Just got 2 job offers, what should I pick (urgent)? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TakeTheWs
Hi! So I was super lucky and just got offers for two different roles: 1 at a Target Starbucks and the other at a stand-alone Starbucks (barista for both). The latter is a bit further away from home (15 minute vs 20 minute commute), but not too bad of a drive. I was just looking for your opinions on which offer I should accept, basically in terms of employee experience at both locations. Thanks!

Edit: yes, the standalone is a corporate location

If the stand alone is corporate, go for that one. You get all the benefits of being a Starbucks employee, vs getting zero benefits at all at the target (licensed) store. From my understanding, you don’t get even the discount from working at licensed stores

Yup! Starbucks benefits are much better.

I see, interesting. Thanks for the input… def leaning towards the corporate location. I edited the post to include that as well.

Definitely standalone! I worked at Target and I work at Starbucks now. I was a cashier at Target but just seeing the experiences of the Starbucks' baristas in our Target, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. It's always understaffed and out of many ingredients. You also have to do the training for a regular Target employee. I personally would choose corporate!!

Alright it’s set then! I’ll def go with stand-alone,

So to my understanding (and maybe someone can help me verify because I have had two people I trust give me the same info) that corporate starbs is cutting hours and they're being pretty strict on it due to our pay hike in a few weeks. I'm at the big fancy store for my district and despite being one of the most senior partners I haven't broken 20 hours without panhandling at other stores for shifts.

This probably isn't typical because my store has a lot of... Stuff going on, so if you just want a job the Tarbucks may be able to help you in terms of just getting the hours you want.
If you need the extra trimmings Starbucks offers (healthcare, college, etc.) And can eat the leanness of the hours then... There you go

Tbh the money isn't my main reason for working (16 rn, first job), it's honestly for experience, meaning the fewer hours could actually be a positive for me. Regardless, the $15 an hour is a lot more than most jobs in my area, and I have already declined the Tarbucks offer as of today. Thanks!

That's probably best then. It's not my favorite place I've worked (as a nearly finished college senior I'm just bored honestly) but it's very easy to do, good luck and don't let anyone treat you badly!

you could do both, you’re allowed to work at one corporate and any licensed stores at the same time, so you could try out both and see which one you like better?

I’m a student, so unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to balance both

Target means you work for target not starbucks

Stand alone for sure! Tarbucks is generally super toxic because management is less likely to actually manage the Starbucks. I worked at corporate for 2 years, started at target a few months ago, and am trying to get my corporate job back.

Definitely stand alone store more benefits.
