I’m about to hit my breaking point (self.starbucksbaristas)

First and foremost I’ve been a partner for 2 months now. *applause*

I can’t stand it here anymore. Our Sm constantly schedules us outside of our available unless you’re a ssv, which in that case u get anything you want under the sun.

I open in the morning and as soon as that’s done I’m in front for the rest of peak and in some cases the rest of the day. I understand like u want your best baristas on bar. But I did other shit when I first started and now I’m just front. I cannot stand front for the life of me. Im pretty sure there is policy that prevent partners from being in 1 spot for their whole shift.

I hate how much SM’s always side with the customer. They very rarely have your back. Even when they customer is very much so in the wrong.

I love how many of my partners are so quick to pull up policy that benefit them. But when they’re breaking policy they’re very much so hush hush about it.

I also can’t stand how my SM will always blame me for window times being high when I’m on window. Not knowing that I have little control of that. How am I supposed to hand out an order when it’s not ready.

And lastly the biggest thing that I don’t understand is why so many people are against unions here. I will never understand how you be so wrapped around Starbucks’s finger to the point where u think unions would be detrimental.

Thanks for listening to my TED rant. I’m trying to hold out and see if it gets better but I’m afraid soon the job hunt will begin anew.

Run while you can. If you’ve only been there a couple months and you already feel like this, run 🏃‍♀️

Hit 3 months working there - first 2 months felt hellish. Could not vibe with any of the SM’s I had, or even the majority of baristas there. The lot of them are completely fed up with me whenever I make a mistake. They get annoyed when i ask questions (some don’t, but a lot of them do) which gives me anxiety approaching them for things.

Same situation with being only placed on front/warming or drive thru. They do NOT want me touching bar. After my week of training, I was placed on bar like 5 times - and yes, I was slow and I was confused on the drink building. But I was also new to it all like come on. After 3 months, I’ve been on bar less than 10 times total. (I’ve been wanting to ask for more bar time/ practice whenever it’s not busy, but it always feels busy) Also had SM’s literally stand right behind me and sigh frustratedly out loud about window times. There’s shit I can’t control like chill out. I honestly stopped looking at the time - I just focus on getting customers orders and handing them out.

I can tell you though that once 3 months hit for me, I’ve finally started to somewhat feel more used to the routine and have a general understanding of things. I feel pretty efficient at register and warming (I wonder why lmao) but I also try and do my best to seem useful - restocking constantly, making new batches of refreshers, putting new milk in the fridges, cleaning, replacing trash even if I’m not on support. My SM’s have recently started to take notice in my effort too.
