You answered your own debate. Always been butter side down Either way still makes a mess and the hot grease can be used as a weapon
Necessary_Low9393 points11m ago
I don’t think it was him that was questioning it yesterday.
FlowerCurious58146 points1y ago
Ok I see yours come frozen ours do not so it’s a different wrapper, I will post the one at my store
starbucksbarist28 [OP]31 points1y ago
Oh lowkey I forgot fresh stores existed, maybe it’s different between the two? I can’t imagine why they’d do that when the company based everything on standards.
FlowerCurious58110 points1y ago
Just the paninis are fresh, everything else is frozen
starbucksbarist28 [OP]9 points1y ago
Ohhh, weird. I’ve been to fresh stores but have never got paninis there, I bet they’re so much better than the frozen ones.
laurthegr89 points1y ago
my store has paninis & the grilled cheese in our fridge. i always warm butter side up bc it gets crispy and looks v appealing lol
Pylon-Cam1 points11m ago
Breakfast sandwiches and protein boxes are fresh as well!
amalia13lightning1 points11m ago
The packaging says the same thing.
TRoseee1 points11m ago
It actually does not. There are instructions.
FlowerCurious5810 points11m ago
The wrapper at my store doesn’t say the same thing actually

after two years at starbucks i’ve been at a new store for 3 weeks and learned this three days ago. finally “crispy” grilled cheese makes sense
Necessary_Low9392 points11m ago
I said this in another post yesterday where one had the same question, they said that’s not the way to make it and it’s crispy regardless. Lord. People are so hardheaded
PartyAnything34082 points11m ago
butter side up makes it softer which I prefer but butter side down makes it golden brown and crispy
Necessary_Low9393 points11m ago
This guy was just saying standard is butter up and that he can do no wrong. He was saying all his coworkers are wrong. Like I get it, u can enjoy ur sandwich however u want and of course there is no correct way, but there is a standard way.
Assiqtaq8 points1y ago
There was another sandwich with butter on one side only, but that one said butter side up. I can't remember what the sandwich was though, can anyone help? It has been driving me up a wall.

Old food* sorry I can’t type
starbucksbarist28 [OP]1 points1y ago
I do know there was a different grilled cheese build years ago, like in 2014. It could have been the old one?? I’m not exactly sure! I’ll look they the only good cards when I work
Assiqtaq2 points1y ago
No, it was a pork shoulder sandwich, within the last two years or so. Thank you to u/causeiwontsing for answering!
starbucksbarist28 [OP]1 points1y ago
Ohh, was that an everywhere item?? I don’t remember ever having those?
Assiqtaq1 points1y ago
I honestly have no idea.
Glum-Art89627 points1y ago

Necessary_Low9392 points11m ago

valtheghostie4 points1y ago
I know what the package says…but my heart (and future burns on my skin) says no
Old_Specific_12334 points1y ago

changbinsomnia3 points1y ago

THANK YOU
starbucksbarist28 [OP]2 points1y ago
OF COURSE, it’s been driving me crazy. You can literally even look the standards up on the recipe cards or partnerhub.

Good thing I’m illiterate
Necessary_Low9392 points11m ago
I needa send this to that kid who keeps claiming that butter side up yesterday in the Starbucks forum. He keeps saying his coworkers are wrong and that he’s right. I doubt he will listen anyway, he was getting negatives in the comments and he still stand his ground. Like relax geez.
BatWeary2 points1y ago
*screams into the void*
i was on dto the other day and my SM asked me what side you warm the grilled cheese on. i said butter down, bc that’s what it says on the LITERAL PACKAGE. apparently my DM told her it’s butter side up?! 😭 idk if my DM told her she likes it butter side up and it was interpreted wrong or what, but it’s been driving me wild
starbucksbarist28 [OP]1 points1y ago
Oh my gosh! That’s so weird, it’s a constant debate at my store between my manager and older partners. The older partners swear it’s butter side up, but obviously the packaging says otherwise. But It’s also a constant fight on this page. I just do what the instructions say. Personally I don’t think someone going to Starbucks is expecting an amazing grilled cheese so I don’t think it’s THAT important but why create a label that says so if it wasn’t the case?
cody_18491 points1y ago
To be honest, majority of the stuff corporate tells us is bs. Sure butter side down may make it crispier, however they didn’t once think about how we can get injured due to it. I’ve had more hot butter burns than I can count cause you gotta move fast for dt times. Putting it butter side up makes sure that you’re not gonna get burned.
Plus, I want the butter in my grilled cheese, not partially on it and the rest floating around on the paper.
Also this is not a hill I’m willing to die on, out of all the stupid things we all debate over, this is probably the one I care the least about. If you catch me on warming, it’s gonna be butter up. But if I catch you doing it butter down, I don’t care enough to say anything. Just get the sandwich out the window lol.
darklordnickel1 points11m ago
It’s said that on the package since they launched the sandwich…. Why does no one pay attention to ANYTHING!?
Snarfungus1 points11m ago
standard has always been butter side down but i’ve burned myself one too many times doing it so i cook them butter side up
Fun-Reference36181 points11m ago
Duh… it’s supposed to be crispy - butter side up would definitely be soggy
shipssiren1 points11m ago
Yes, it makes it waayyy more crispy than side up.
Pylon-Cam1 points11m ago
Didn’t realize this was even a debate — of course they’re warned butter side down.
godskrimp1 points1y ago
no.
EliMinivan1 points1y ago
My store doesn't have these, are they good? People come in looking for them all the time
RedOrangeYellowGreen3 points1y ago
So delicious. Unreasonably amazing
starbucksbarist28 [OP]1 points1y ago
They’re actually pretty good, best fast food grilled cheese out there in my opinion!
