Keep asking. Does not matter what your motivations are, SB set the terms.

I think her motives are to let people become coffee masters because they're actually interested in coffee not fashion
Assiqtaq5 points11m ago
Oh I'm aware of her motivation. What I said was it doesn't matter. If you want that apron, and you are willing to do the work, keep asking.
AmIAwakeOr32 points1y ago
They're right... I just want my damn black apron. Who cares if I can do coffee kung fu or whatever 🤣
dallizzlee3 points1y ago
Exactlyyyy
Aliciarox1118911 points1y ago
You do it via starbucks coffee academy I did it before with the old program and the academy And I did greener apron
Message me with questions
yungfroggie3 points1y ago
yes but the last levels are paid so they need to communicate that with the manager
Aliciarox111891 points1y ago
Where does it say that?
udderlymoovelous3 points1y ago
Coffee master launch guide I believe? 100 and 200 levels will be part of regular barista training eventually, and 300 levels are specially scheduled training hours (for anyone who didn’t complete coffee academy prior to June 20)
irritablegarlic10 points11m ago
I mean honestly if a bunch of people are coffee masters but can’t talk about coffee and don’t give a shit that looks bad.
rosaliecrowe9 points11m ago
If they just give it to you, it devalues the black apron if it's that easy to get. It doesn't mean much. But if you have to earn it well.... You have something special right?

yeah that's the point of the program
uwumoment3 points11m ago
like they should…? ok sure starbucks sucks but it used to be about the coffee. i like coffee as a hobby and that’s why im a coffee master. im knowledgeable about it and you should be if you’re a coffee master
Number1Barooista3 points11m ago
I mean learn about coffee. That's the point being a coffee master. You wear a black apron and don't know anything about coffee then it makes you look bad. I mean it would be cool if we had black aprons in general. But I definitely agree they should be earned since they are for coffee masters.
uwumoment2 points11m ago
even though starbucks has bad core coffees the reserve ones aren’t too bad, i did a tasting of them with my manager and the french press coffee is better than the auto drip coffee. i just think it’s best for people to actually enjoy coffee as a hobby or be knowledgeable about it before wearing the apron, bc what if a customer asks you something about coffee and you don’t have a clue?? then you’ll look pretty bad.
Number1Barooista2 points11m ago
Exactly why I want to actually do the course. I'm pretty intrigued by the whole process of how the beans go from the plants to our store. Also how they make different roasts and how to make coffee taste better in general. I also don't know anything about pairings and would like to learn.
uwumoment1 points11m ago
yes! i don’t want my black apron to be devalued bc no one else wearing it knows about coffee.
neilgreenbreen1 points11m ago
This is like a mcdonald’s manager saying “nobody wants to learn fine dining”. Like duh dude this is a starbucks. It’s not exactly a third wave independent espresso bar
Ordinary-Theory-82891 points11m ago
Nobodies forcing you to do the coffee master program. If you don’t care to learn about coffee then don’t do it and you won’t get a black apron 🤷‍♂️
Zealousideal-Star4481 points11m ago
I vote we all just dye our aprons black but if I get paid to sit at home clicking shit then I get to drink shit black coffee for a black apron I’ll do it. Best part is I lost my sense of taste cuz covid sooooo
iamthegodess12341 points1y ago
Do you get a pay raise if you get that apron?
ConfusionDisastrous82 points11m ago
No, it's a right of passage kind of thing. You accomplished learning about coffee and can correctly explain to people about it.

You're going to look real silly wearing a black apron and someone asked you about coffee and you don't know anything because you just wanted the apron
