Hi everyone, I can’t log into my partner hours or hub atm and i’m wondering if anyone has access to the July 11th update regarding baristas having to work at least 12 hours a week or if there’s a reason for it? TIA

I didn’t know about this. My store is closed for a remodel but I haven’t been scheduled any hours after our reopen. I only work 1-2 days a week and rely on the job to pay bills. Can someone send me the info? Thanks!

yeah it’s a recent update that states managers are expected to give baristas 12 hours a week and baristas are required to give at least 18 hours of availability. hoping managers will be flexible to this tho because i work another job and my other job pays more and i’m not going to prioritize sbux just because i enjoy working there unfortunately

Oh wow. Yeah I also work another full time job so I only have weekend availability but my SM only schedules me for Sundays.

we’re all supposed to be scheduled for meetings regarding this at the end of the month i believe

Me too! I asked my manager about this after seeing posts about it here on Reddit and they said that so far there is no reason to change things but we’ll figure something out if they hear more details. I told them that if it comes down to it and I have to quit then that’s fine, but if I can continue to keep working just weekends I’m down with that as well. I get why the company would need to eliminate those of us that only work a few hours yet still get to benefit from things like the discount and weekly markout and food, but it still sucks if I have to quit. I enjoy working at Starbucks so much more now that I’m only there a fraction of the time. My manager seemed to think the same thing that most of us were thinking: “how is Starbucks going to require a certain number of hours when they can’t even give our managers enough hours to schedule the baristas?”

All that to say, I probably should quit anyway. Lol. I just found it encouraging that after years of stress and anxiety I was finding it actually fun to work at Starbucks again. Working fewer hours made a world of difference.

The update even says that 12 hours a week isn’t garunteed to be given to us even tho the expectation of managers is that we receive them. the whole thing doesn’t make sense. The first thing i thought of was my first holiday two years ago where after the holidays were over, i literally got scheduled 5 hours a week. In theory, the minimum of 12 hours a week has been a thing for a couple of years but just hasn’t been enforced from what i’m hearing and now they’re trying to change that.

I think it also may be due to the increase in pay that is supposed to kick in August. Maybe they are using it to justify getting rid of partners who have little availability?
BaitandSwitch1800 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
that’s my theory tbh
pumknspice_ 1 points 11m ago
What will the increase be?
Latter-Guava-4734 1 points 11m ago
$15 or 3%, whichever is more for partners who were hired on or before May 2nd. Tenured partners are supposed to get an additional percentage added on based on how many years they worked. 2-5 years = at least 5% increase, or 5% market rate (whichever is more). Partners with 5+ years experience will be getting at least a 7% increase or move up to 10% above market start rate (once again, whichever is more). I just got told by my manager yesterday that it does start August 1st.

So if I am just starting is it reasonable to ask for $15? Is that what other employees are making?
Latter-Guava-4734 2 points 11m ago
Depends on where you are honestly. Starbucks hasn’t really said what would happen to employees hired after May 2nd, we’re all just kind of waiting to see what happens lol. Starting rate for me in December was $12, I’m not really sure if they’re at $15 for newer ones, I just know that’s what I was told I’d be making come August. You can try to ask your manager to see if they know what will be happening with newer baristas, but my guess would be in some form or another you will get at least $15 as it is supposed to be the minimum for us nationwide.

I thought it was that you’re availability had to be open for at least 12 hours of scheduling
BaitandSwitch1800 [OP] 4 points 11m ago
weekly update for 07/11 states that all managers are expected to schedule baristas for at least 12 hours (baristas are expected to work this much as well) and baristas must provide a min of 18 hours of availability
AcanthisittaOk2549 2 points 11m ago
There’s a few veteran baristas who work 1-2 days a week... so does corporate just want to lose them because they can’t/won’t work 12 hours a week?
BaitandSwitch1800 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
feels like it

I can’t find this update anywhere, not in my store update at least. Does anyone know where to find it online?
BaitandSwitch1800 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
it would be only available in store online on the boh computer. I would search implementing new availability
