question about frappucinos with added shots of espresso (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by brooklyn0876
okay SO. we have a regular that comes through and gets a venti espresso frappucino with 8 shots of espresso, almond milk & caramel drizzle. but here’s my question: I was under the impression that drink should be made to standard meaning that the espresso, frap roast, and milk should all fit in the cup to the bottom line so that the drink is the correct consistency. but when you make a venti size frappuccino with 8 shots of espresso, the 8 shots go to the bottom line. so there’s no room for anything else. how would you make this drink? is there a proper way? do you just make the drink to standard and poor the 8 shots in the blender before you blend it up?

I get the frustration. I have a regular that gets four shots... and there's baaaaarely enough room for milk. Catch me on a petty day for a frappuchino with 8 shots and I'd just pour milk in the cup like I'm making a cream frappuchino and dump the shots in before I blend. But I'd definitely lowkey/highkey inform that person that.... half of their drink is probably being poured down the drain because it's not gonna fit in the cup. Maybe that will convince them they are basically wasting money on shots that are going down the drain?

Put everything in the blender and blend. The consistency would be shit but that’s how they want it.

Customers don’t know the measurements. They don’t know how much can actually fit to that line. That customer most likely just assumes that it all fits fine. You have to communicate with them that they will not get the correct proportions in their drink unless if they do less shots or lighter ice. Otherwise, they will have no idea.
