From Cafe to Drive thru (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by barkingbarista
I recently transferred over to a Drive Thru from a cafe. I’ve worked at a drive thru before, it was my first store but I was a barista at the time. I transferred over with my manager because I really love working under them. But because I become a shift while I was at the Cafe, I feel overwhelmed now at the Drive thru. Especially when I am running a shift and two of the baristas that are there with me aren’t comfortable on bar yet. So i have to stay planted on bar. It really sucks because I obviously don’t want to throw someone on bar and let them drown. I want to be a good shift, I just find it hard to balance my responsibilities and keeping the store running. Any advice from other drive thru shift supervisor? I cried today because one of the other shifts stayed till the other one showed up, I felt really bad.

if i have two baristas who aren’t comfortable on bar yet, i’ll put one on drive thru and the other on CS or front/food. i’m a closing shift, so towards the end of the night prob like an hour to an hour and a half before we close, i’ll give them bar time so that there’s not as much pressure to quickly make drinks and so it doesn’t feel like too much of a bother for them to ask questions.

do they only have you and two other baristas scheduled?
