How does calling off work? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve been working there for about two months and I called off for the first time today. It was 2 hours before my shift so that’s good but how else does this work? Is there a point system or when do they start considering it a problem?

Usually it's a combination of pattern-making (they always call off on Saturdays, or every third Wednesday, etc), problem-making (bosses are sometimes more lenient if your calling out doesn't impact things much), and their opinion of you in general.

Your manager will only start paying attention if it becomes a trend. Don’t feel bad for taking time off for being sick or dealing with a family emergency

I was not, I did have a family emergency though and I let that be known
