music turned down for ONE customer(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hadeslittlecrybaby
i’m so tired of going to work and having the music either turned down to the point where you can’t hear it or it not being on AT ALL. this woman claims that she works from home THEN GO HOME. i get it, you want to be out of the house but this is MY place of work. personally, i need the music. not to mention the music is SUPPOSED to be on. it’s not fair that she’s here nearly EVERY SINGLE DAY for my ENTIRE shift. most days i just turn it up from the back around 11-12 because to me? it’s not fair.
edit: i don’t mind when it’s turned down to a level when i can still hear but when it’s off completely i lose my mind.

this one lady asked if we could turn it down bc she was having a meeting, i was like ok i had to do a meeting in here before and the music was too loud so sure. i thought it was gonna be like an hour or two long. she was there still after my shift ended. idk why people do that

if you ask me if i would rather work at home or in a starbucks i would tell you home.. not to mention if you took a “stay at home job” you should be… staying at home… there are people who really don’t want to leave home/can’t/disabled whatever who needs jobs like this.

we have this annoying regular who always complains about the music and asks us to turn it down every day. we go to the back and act like we are gonna turn it down but we really don’t. we’ll come back and he’ll be like “much better!”
He’s just an old miserable fuck that loves to complain

We had this one lady one time and she decided to sit down in one of the seats where the speaker was directly above on the ceiling. Out of all seats, she sits there. Cool. But then she tells my manager to change the music because she didnt like it. It wasnt some crazy song. It was just one of the ones on our starbucks tablet playlist. But she then goes back to the same seat after asking my manager to change the song. We were busy and my manager told her she would change it in just a second as she was in the middle of doing something cuz we were busy. Then from her seat, the lady yelled was complaining but i was all the way on bar so i didnt hear what she was saying. But i did hear her scream "its making my ears bleed!!!" Lol like chill lady, my manager said she will change it in a second cuz she was on the floor helping us cuz it was so busy. Idk how some people can go out in public and act like that. I would be so embarrassed or too ashamed to ever act a fool in public

I loath these customers who use our lobbies as their offices. It’s fine when people are meeting for like an hour but those who stay all day. It makes me want to ask their clients “are you sure you want to do business with someone who is too cheap to either rent an office/pay for wifi/internet and don’t want to have clients in their home when running a home business” I once had a lady tell me while I was sweeping the lobby “I know you’re just doing your job but could you not sweep it’s distracting and I’m trying to conduct business right now”. Really?!

My store is 24/7 (cafe and drive) and it really gets to me when the people who are there doing work for 6+ hours WITH THEIR HEADPHONES ON come up and say “can you turn the music down”
I love doing my homework at my store and I get the appeal of working in a Starbucks for a change or scenery but if you’re wanting to use it as an office or require complete silence why do you not just go a few miles down the road to the library and work from there????
For the reason she gave that isn’t cool. But its a little ableist if people get mad about this for other reasons. People who experience sensory overload more easily (for example with autism or ADHD) have a good reason to ask for these kinds of things.
Not saying you’re ableist but just food for thought
