Advice pls! Leave or not to leave… (self.starbucksbaristas)

I joined the Starbucks family not too long ago. In Australia the expectations and way cafes functions are a bit different from the US.

When I joined the store had a new manager to get the store up and running again, after having a bad one for a long time. The team was pretty dysfunctional and not motivated… from the day I started majority of the team would gossip about one specific girl and previous partners. All while telling me “this doesn’t usually happen”, “we don’t talk about people like this normally”, “don’t get the wrong idea about the team”. It’s consistent and I’m worried they are talking about me now- since the manager I started with has left to start up a new store there’s no one to model good behaviour.

When I started the new NEW manager was starting too- supposed to be training with me to learn the team and store. She left crying the next day and quit after 30 mins.

The current stand in is… not very authentic. I feel majorly judged by them. My best friend used to go to school many a year ago with them- and told me that current stand in manager was frequently making fun and bullying the autistic kids. (I am on the spectrum and now my suspicions are feeling…. confirmed).

I really love being a barista, and have always wanted to work at Starbucks. The manager I started with was wonderful and encouraging. Now she’s gone I feel anxious to go in every shift.

How do I go about this?

If I leave Starbucks so soon will I be able to apply again another time, do you think? I’m nervous my name will be tarnished forever… lol.

Or even, should I message the initial manager and talk to her? Or even HR?

As far as I've been told the only reason you wouldn't be rehired is if you've been fired, from what I've heard its usually a 3 year ban. Other than that your manager can put in notes for your application and itd be up to wherever you're trying to get hired at if they'll rehire. The notes can make a difference but if its nothing serious (usually isnt unless you had an incident report) then rehires are usually sought after more, at least in our district. I'd still ask your sm, asm or a trusted ssv since you're not comfortable with the stand in.
