ive been a starbucks barista for 4 months and still have to ask which tea bags to put in the tea drinks.

can someone please tell me the recipes for the london fog latte, honey citrus mint tea, peach tranquility, emperor’s cloud, royal english tea breakfast latte, earl grey tea, and the jade citrus mint tea.

basically all the teas lol
zedazeni 135 points 11m ago
They’re in the names….

A peach tranquility tea is…peach tranquility tea

Earl grey tea is…earl grey tea

Jade citrus mint tea is…jade citrus mint tea

Just grab the tea bag, put it in the cup, and add hot water.

A royal English breakfast tea latte is made with…royal English breakfast tea (half water, half steamed milk, and liquid cane sugar)

The only two which don’t have the teas directly in the name are:

London Fog Latte (made with Earl Grey tea, half water, half steamed milk, and vanilla)

And the Honey Citrus Mint Tea (one jade citrus mint teabag, one peach tranquility tea bag, half steamed lemonade, half water, and honey blend)

This! Short and tall each get one teabag, while grande and venti get two teabags!

Honey citrus mint tea is always two teabags regardless of size since it’s two teas, one jade citrus and one peach tranquility

Another note is that the honey blend syrup in the Honey Citrus Mint Tea doesn't follow the typical 2/3/4/5 (S/T/G/V) pumps. It is 1/1/2/2, which is the same numbers for your typical teabags, which is how I tend to remember it!

thank you !!
aspiringgrandpa 5 points 11m ago
the syrups were the hardest thing to remember when it came to teas for me so thank you
Wonderful-Put-5972 1 points 11m ago
But the tea lattes get regular amount (2/3/4/5). Also double cup and tuck tea bags labels between the cups so customer can extract them when it's steeped enough.
megs1288 1 points 11m ago
Okay is it two jade citrus and two peach tranquility so 4 bags total?
dankmobile 2 points 11m ago
no, one of each!
megs1288 2 points 11m ago
So all sizes get one jade citrus and one peach tranquility

If you make an iced tea latte- same tea bag standards for the sizes.

But! Grab a double cupped short cup- make sure to prime the hot water so it’s very steamy. A venti iced tea latte doesn’t even need a full short cup full. Less than half way for a grande. Cover with a lid and place a timer with it for five minutes. Make sure to call out to the team that you’ve gotten the iced tea latte started!!
When someone orders an iced tea latte in DT - make sure it’s being started as it’s being ordered. I’ll even pause the customer a lil when I’m on DTO to be like “oh I love an iced London fog tea latte! I think it’s so tasty with that freshly brewed tea. So, to make sure it’ll be great for you I am getting that started for you right now!”

Obviously if your DTO isn’t allowed to flex, just let bar do it but I like when DTO gets things like this started if the store layout allows. Just make sure to over communication so it doesn’t get made twice.

Then when the timer goes off- remove tea bags and add the lil hot tea to a shaker with ice to the ice line plus the required flavor AND the milk. Milk gets shaken unlike the iced shaken espresso!!!

I oftentimes end up with more beverage bc it melts the ice so much. So I will usually surprise and delight the customer with the drink in the next size up with extra ice

Yeah for sure! While you have me on the line -[coffee master and barista trainer] do you have any other questions?

Please note the honey citrus mint is also called the medicine ball and some people don’t know that. If they order a medicine ball and you repeat back honey citrus mint or if they see it written on the cup or sticker they may get confused
clouds183 16 points 11m ago
We aren’t supposed to call it that, it gives the impression that we have medicine here and thats not true, so letting customers know what its actually called is helpful
LaurabelleBabe 10 points 11m ago
I’ve tried to and I’ve repeated it back as “honey citrus mint” and gotten like seriously yelled at.. customers and just really harsh ig
Federal_Chemist_5009 [OP] 3 points 11m ago
i already knew that but thank you tho!
LaurabelleBabe 5 points 11m ago
Good cuz I didn’t when I worked at a licensed store and only learned it recently coming to a real store 😂
Federal_Chemist_5009 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
really 😂 i learnt it when i was still in training because a customer asked for a medicine ball and i was so confused i had to ask my coworker to help me lol
evviiieeee 1 points 11m ago
there’s also another name for it that i hear often but i don’t remember what it is off the top of my head, i truly wish people would just learn the actual names of drinks lol
aspiringgrandpa 2 points 11m ago

Do yourself a favor and spend five minutes with the iPad and look up the recipes on the resource app. Then you will know the exact correct recipe instead of relying on the knowledge of others that maybe incorrect. Just the other day we found a group of new baristas making cafe vanilla Frappuccino with syrup instead of vanilla bean because that’s how one person got told it was made.
cats_with_tentacles 5 points 11m ago
Coming to suggest this. Find the recipe cards in your store or go into the resource app and theres should be a Core Beverage Recipe menu in there. Very helpful!

I also was making rhe vanilla frap with syrup until a month ago smh we're all always learning and they are always changing things! So learning where your resources are, to check for yourself, is important :)
theimposteramongus 5 points 11m ago
Babes i feel you i never learned the special teas and they arent well ordered at my stores thank you for asking this!
Federal_Chemist_5009 [OP] 3 points 11m ago

trentablondelatte 3 points 11m ago

Federal_Chemist_5009 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
lmaoo frr i panic a little whenever i see one of those teas and i’m on hot bar 😭
ocinlas 3 points 11m ago
The only tea lattes are the

honey citrus mint tea:
HONEY, jade CITRUS MINT, peach tranquility, and lemonade. I remember that lemonade goes in because of the word citrus too. But it’s a better reminder as to which tea bag goes in.

Royal English breakfast tea latte (make sure to ask if they want the tea or tea latte): ENGLISH BREAKFAST, 2%, liquid cane

London fog latte: earl gray, 2%, vanilla.

I remember this by saying to myself Earl, drives his van 2 London
Earl(gray) drives his (van)illa 2(%) (goes in a) London (fog)

London fog and English breakfast lattes are easy to confuse. As long as you consistently remember one, the other is easy to figure out.

Both get 2%, the breakfast latte gets liquid cane instead of vanilla (which is what all teas get), and it gets English breakfast tea which is in its name. So you know London gets the other black tea, earl gray.
