Has anyone done the “craft training” yet? I’d like to know what it is. (self.starbucksbaristas)

The training is happening between august 1st and 14th I believe - my manager scheduled it for august 1st for our store

It’s basically going back through barista basics of drink making for partners in the learn stage, going over complicated drinks and customization standards in the own stage, and having difficult conversations/communication for the advising stage

So did you do the Craft Training? If so, how was it? What was it??

neither were the ACTUAL craft training, i’m a shift supervisor so one of them was learning how to be a trainer for it and the other one was specific to shift supervisor crafting experience but here is what i learned about it:

those surveys you filled out about if you’re in the learning owning or advising stage will break you all up into pods where one pod you could be placed in is the “learning pod” which just means you’ll basically be relearning how to make drinks correctly or any drinks you might be having trouble with, the “owning pod” is basically gaining confidence on making drinks, and “advising pod” is basically about coaching other baristas

so depending on your skill level you’ll be placed in a pod with other people at a similar stage as you. (learning owning or advising), so if you marked learning for the majority you’ll prob be in the learning pod, owning majority prob in owning pod, advising majority prob in advising pod

Ok. I’m an ssv too. I marked everything in the advising but not the farthest one on the right side of the sheet. I know I still have room to learn and develop. This is helpful info though. Thank you for responding!!😊

oh but in the shift supervisor crafting experience part it was like just talking with your dm who’s leading the training most likely and answering questions about like “who inspires you to be a better coach” and then talking about coaching or like “when was there a time where you could’ve supported your baristas more” or something like thatthat’s

if you’re an SSV I’m not sure if it affects which pod you’ll be teaching (i’m assuming your store is doing the same and having SSVs teach it) I mean I checked off all close to advising and I’m teaching the advising pod but my other ssv who has been there for years longer than me (i’m almost a year at starbucks and she’s been there for like 5 years) is teaching the learning pod and there is no way she is in the learning stage or checked off on all the learning stages, she knows her shit!
