pay raise negotiation? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by angryairheadaries
to make a long story short, i am a former licensed lead barista who works as a ssv in a corporate store. i had 1.5 years of starbucks+manager/lead experience before taking on this role, but i still get the same pay as the other ssvs who either got hired after me. i’ve worked at this store for 1.5 years as well, making my total starbucks experience as a whole 3 years (this week, actually), so i’m just trying to get some help on how i should approach this delicately with my sm/dm. i work really hard at my store and really try my best not to complain, but i just think it’s unfair that someone who’s worked straight corporate for 3 years gets paid more than me who has almost the same experience level.

While being at a licensed store gave you the experience, you technically weren’t with corporate Starbucks for 3 whole years, only 1.5 years. You can definitely try to negotiate but your SM has to get approval from DM who has to get approval from the RM. So many hoops to jump thru just to get denied any sort of raise in the end. One of the longest tenured partners at my store always talks about how he’s seen so many baristas and SSVs ask for a raise and 20 out of 20 were denied.
