Ok so I’m currently 7 months pregnant and I’m so confused with how maternity leave works at Starbucks my manager is no help and i don’t know who to contact. I was told by my manager i can’t apply for leave until after the baby is born which makes no sense because a)i don’t want to be working up until my due date b) the government says i can take maternity leave 13 weeks prior to the due date and c) online it says i have to apply for maternity leave a month in advance.
Honestly I’m just extremely confused and nervous about not having it set up in time any help would be appreciated!!

call Sedgwick 866-206-6769 and get past that automatic machine thing and try to connect to a customer service rep. you can apply for a leave before the baby is born. so your manager is either just useless or heartless. and i have used Sedgwick to apply for a leave so I’d be able to help out if you have any questions
(their website is so fuckin useless but it’s mysedgwick.com and you can use it to check the status of your leave and whatnot)

there’s paperwork that has to be submitted in a VERY SPECIFIC FASHION or they won’t pay you. i would request very specific instructions when contacting sedgwick on submitting this paperwork. i have a sedgwick horror story for my maternity leave that left me without pay until after i had already returned to work from my leave. i’m sure this won’t happen to you! i just wanted you to be aware of how tricky some parts of the process are
