(Sorry if this is not allowed or just straight-up dumb) Genuine question from a non-Barista: is there some stupid/mandatory routine about the shaken espresso which makes it worse than if one were to order just multi-shots (either iced or hot?) I’m truly concerned about annoying you guys!
Is it the amount of shots (pulls) or is it the “shaken” part that adds weird-ass extra steps?
I truly LOVE the taste of espresso; want more. I’m in no way a “regular” to the ‘Bucks, so sometimes the display menu baffles me.
So, I always thought as long as it’s printed on the display (versus an obscure off menu item hyped by the internet), that I was good and not a nuisance.
This sub has highlighted the annoyance of the shaken espresso and, although I’ve only ordered it once, I loved it, as it was exactly what I like without having to detail my wants to the dismay of the cashier.
I want espresso. A lot (like 4-5 shots…). Usually with some milk or cream to soften the bitter. Like a light splash. That’s it. (No syrups, extra pumps, sugar, nada). Sometimes I want it hot, yet, with this heat, I may want it iced.
How do I properly order a quad or 5-shot espresso with cream (or whip/pana) -whether it be hot or iced? I just want strong - so, I typically go for “tall”, since I’m not looking for a latte.
Or, should I just go eff myself? (Please be kind, I’ve worked corporate hell in many, MANY forms).

What’s wrong with the shaken espresso I made 100 a day? It’s the best tasting drink and easier than the disgusting medicine ball. If you want espresso shots with cream or whip that’s all you have to say then specify hot or iced. It’s not really a sized drink but if you want more or less ice (when it’s cold ofc) then you can specify: 5 shots of espresso iced with light cream (example: in a grande cup with extra ice)… for hot you would just say 5 shots of espresso with a splash of cream.

I personally find the shaken espresso absolutely delightful, with the added bonus it’s on the printed display facing the customer; so in my anxious, “just freaking do it, dummy!” mindset - I just want to order quickly and get out of your way with the most efficiency (for the one taking/making the order).
I just want espresso in highball quantities - and maybe a danish.

There’s plenty of venting here because it’s the place for that type of thing but there’s no disdain with the shaken espresso. Especially the brown sugar almost all the partners at my store ordered them everyday so order whatever tastes good. Honestly if you’re nice you can order almost anything even something super picky and it’s nbd.

Because I usually go through the drive thru before work and it’s crazy busy. Haven’t wanted to slow them down or distract them to ask.
