selling syrups (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by brattiebun
Hi everyone! I just had a quick question since it’s been about 6 months since I stopped working at bux. I went to a store yesterday and asked if I could buy a bottle of vanilla syrup, since my store I worked at would allow this. The woman said no which I was a bit confused about but respected since I don’t want to cause problems. My question is, are stores no longer allowed to sell the individual bottles of vanilla syrup? I remember them being $20-$25 a bottle, and if we had the stock we were allowed, but maybe things have since changed. If so, what syrups do you all recommend? I’m open to trying different brands lol

I’ve been told that we are still allowed to sell the bottles as long as they have a barcode on them ( I think it’s like vanilla, maybe classic, maybe caramel, and maybe sugar free vanilla? I’ve only had people buy regular vanilla). I have been told though that we have to make sure when selling it that the stock allows for it. Since we have a really busy dt store, our orders aren’t placed with the expectation of having bottles of syrup to display and sell, so if they are running low on syrups they may not be able to sell it. It doesn’t really make sense to me and I’m not completely positive about all the rules, but this is just what I’ve been told

I can definitely understand not selling them if the stock just isn’t enough for it. We had a lot of people who would buy vanilla syrup and a lot of people who would get upset when we couldn’t sell them seasonal syrups. Starbucks has some strange policies sometimes so I also wanted to make sure I wasn’t being a bother by asking. Thank you for letting me know, I might just try a different store to see what they say and if not then I’ll be on the hunt for another brand lol

Vanilla is used heavily in the summer I can see why they said no. And for some reason large amounts of items are being randomly shorted. Try another store that maybe isn't as busy

That makes a lot of sense. I did end up trying another store yesterday and they were able to sell me a bottle so I’m pretty happy about that

If there is enough stock and it has a barcode yes. Some partners at my store didn’t know it was allowed either so maybe they just hadn’t done it before.

You can buy syrups! And as long as that store has enough in stock to sell. That lady is wrong 🙄 i used to buy syrups from starbucks even before I worked at Starbucks and not everyone seems to know that some syrups can be sold. So just kindly remind them if they can double check with other partners or managers.

You can only buy the ones that have barcode though. Which are the ones that have starbucks siren logo on the bottle!

our store still sells syrups! but 20-25 seems fairly expensive. our BSS was 13.25 which is interesting

They are not $20. They are maybe $13? I know other stores sell it but my express store won’t allow it.

Maybe I was thinking of the price that the bottles are on Amazon then. But I managed to get a bottle from another store so all is well

Basically if the syrup has a barcode we can sell it....currently I believe it is the vanilla and caramel. We can sell if and only if we have bottles over par, which is the amount we need on the shelf to cover our day to day usage. Sometimes I can sell it sometimes I can't. Our par is like 50 bottles so there is usually a day or two a month we have enough on hand to sell. I hope that helps....you can also call ahead....and ask for a shift or manager as green beans sometimes do not know.
