How to ring a caramel Frappuccino with no coffee?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by FlowerCurious581
Is it ok to ring in “caramel Frappuccino” then hit “ask me” then type “no coffee”? Or do I have to ring in “syrup cream Frappuccino” then hit “caramel syrup” then hit “caramel drizzle”? Seems to me it doesn’t matter but my supervisor came all aggressively towards me about how “that’s not my problem” cuz I said it costs more that way. This shift supervisor is so mean and always acts like a bully.

syrup crème frap with caramel and drizzle is the correct way.
Now, was the supervisor in the right for coming in hot? no, there's no excuse for aggression in the workplace. but you did ring it incorrectly and that does need to be corrected.

This is the way.

Well it costs 10 cents more to order that way and I’m sorry for trying not to overcharge the customer.
OneRoseDark52 points11m ago
you're not overcharging them because that is the charge.

It’s only ten cents, and the other comments are right. You’re not using frapp roast, so you need to ring it in properly for inventory reasons (and labor if you work at a corporate store). Your supervisor shouldn’t have come at you rudely for that, but they weren’t in the wrong for correcting you.

I get it, but I wish there was a caramel cream button to make it less complicated, for me a drink with less ingredients shouldn’t cost more. As far as inventory goes they need to worry more about people stealing paninis then a few pumps of frap roast that’s not actually being used.

I agree that there should be a button, but there’s a lot of things that should be different and that’s just not how they’re done, yk?

No frap roast but more milk. Using the same amount of product either way. I would take a gamble and say that milk is more expensive than the frap roast.
pinkjortz27 points11m ago
It also matters for inventory and labour. You don’t use frapp roast and use a different blending base.
caligirlthrowaway1042 points11m ago
It does matter. Doing it the “ask me” way you described is incorrect. You’re not overcharging them. You’re charging them appropriately for what they are ordering. Whether it costs more than the coffee version does is irrelevant.

I think the correct way to ring it up would just be a syrup creme frappuccino and whip and caramel drizzle. Just like how a caramel ribbon crunch without coffee is a caramel ribbon crunch creme frappuccino

I usually ask if they want the coffee flavor (decaf) still, or no coffee flavor at all. If they want the coffee flavor, I ring in a caramel frapp with the decaf modification. If they want no coffee flavor at all, I ring them up a syrup frapp with caramel syrup and drizzle.
Sometimes customers ask for decaf without knowing that it means that they're going to get a decaf shot to replace the frap roast. I've had customers come back upset that their frapp tastes like coffee, so it's just better to ask.
leeblissy11 points11m ago
yes, the syrup creme way is the correct way, but it does suck that it costs more :( honestly with how common that kind of drink is I wish they'd just have a button for it and have it be priced appropriately, but yeah for now just stick with the syrup creme frapuccino w caramel syrup and drizzle

You’re the upside down grilled cheese person and at this point I feel like you’re just such a bummer to work with.
Levinem7172 points11m ago
I feel like anyone who has the time to type this sort of response is the real bummer.
FlowerCurious581 [OP]0 points11m ago
Maybe for bully supervisors and people like you but I get along great with my partners and they are very supportive of me. I just don’t allow people to shit on me, on the internet and in real life.

Anyone who’s saying that “it’s the right charge, milk costs more, using different base”. You guys might be wrong. The margins which Starbucks runs on is unreal. Whatever you think milk, labour, all that stuff costs, doesn’t even come close to the money stores make each day. A lot of this seriously sounds like regurgitated lies told by terrible managers.
Ordinary-Theory-82894 points11m ago
All the people screaming “but the Invenotry!!!!” Like 3 pumps of frap roast and using crème instead of coffee base for 2 fraps a day is going to make any noticeable difference lol. We don’t even record waste at sbux plenty of frap roast gets poured right down the drain when the date goes out
Levinem7172 points11m ago
The system already does it. People here are lied to by management and unfortunately roll with it. Also I’ve noticed the culture at Starbucks is changing to get more “yes man”. I’m literally arguing with someone on this post about how apathetic their responses are and they’re the ones with the upvotes and I’m the one with downvotes. Idk who needs to hear this, but none of you have any say at Starbucks, you’re just a number, it’s a goddamn “coffee” shop that is getting more egregious with each passing year. Idk why people are willing to defend the siren when all she does is bleed people dry.

Syrup Creme Frappuccino. Adding the Caramel Syrup shouldn't add an extra charge, it'll just show on the sticker that it's Caramel. I think it already comes with whip but hit the whip button to make sure, and the drizzle. Or what I do I just ring in a Caramel Frapp and hit Ask Me, "Creme Base" lol.

In our store we sometimes do just say "decaf" and use a decaf espresso shot and creme base, but that's if they want coffee flavor.
