How long do corrective actions stay on your file for? Specifically a "final warning"? Is it there forever or can it go away eventually with improved behaviors?

Corrective Action stays in your file forever. It says that in the handbook.

There is no timeline.

So even if I'm a star employee for the next two years, I can still get fired for a fart at the wrong place and time?
fuwaldah8 points11m ago
If you're phrasing it like that... no. But you can be fired for violating Starbucks policy at any time, regardless of corrective actions or not.
Here's my advice to anybody who has received a corrective action: Worry about not violating policies again. If you're worried about how long you can go before you can violate policy again, you'll be separated eventually.

This was an unfair write up from poor management. And a direct result of a manager not knowing how to properly and professionally handle a situation. Company policies are violated weekly at my store by all partners at all levels.
My question was not about how long I can go until I can break policy again, it was if there's a way to have it forgiven for good behaviours or over time. I know some companies will allow warnings to be forgiven if there's no offenses over a period of time.

As I said, there is no timeline. If you feel the corrective action was false, I would encourage you to call your DM, your RD, and the ethics line.

What makes you think it’s appropriate to be this condescending? You don’t know anything about OP and bad managers are out there—two SMs from my district have been fired for their inappropriate treatment of partners in just the last 6 months, bc as it turns out not all managers are good. I have seen situations where coworkers have been written up and their writeups are factually wrong and could be proven so with evidence but it’s too much of an uphill battle to even attempt to fight.
Have a little faith in people, Lordy.

> What makes you think it’s appropriate to be this condescending?
I'm not. I was simply offering advice.
>I have seen situations where coworkers have been written up and their writeups are factually wrong...
My advice obviously isn't meant for those people. OP wasn't asking for advice on how to expunge a fraudulent corrective action. I would have different advice had that been the case.

Where in the handbook does it say that?

If there was a timeline, it would be clearly stated.

I believe it’s 6 months?
-Ana-- [OP]1 points11m ago
Oh ok! I know the documented coachings are there for good, but wasn't sure about the rest
dazedandconfusedhere3 points11m ago
I believe they’re documented permanently, but generally not taken into consideration after 6 months.
The nature of the corrective action might make a difference too ie money handling or security issues vs improper use of markouts
