How much do you make in tips per hour? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thebestdaysofmyflerm
I work at a store that’s normally pretty busy, but has a lot fewer customers in the summer. It’s gotten so bad that my tips are down to about 60 cents per hour, down from a bit less than a dollar per hour. I really expected more, especially since my store is in a wealthy area.

How much do other stores make in tips per employee at hour? I’m curious what is considered good tip money for Starbucks.

bro what ours is like .40-.60¢ per hour and almost always less than 8$ in mobile tips a week.

Over a dollar is insaaaaaane for me, we barely get 60-70 cents/hour. Last week we got like .73cents and I thought I was rolling in the tips

Anywhere between $1.2 to $2 per hour, store is located in a wealthier part of town.

I worked at a high volume drive thru in one of the most expensive zip codes on the west coast and tips were low because of no tip on card (without app) and having A LOT of partners. I don’t remember how much they were even because the amount was low. But I worked in a fast casual restaurant right before switching to Starbucks and was used to getting an extra $7-10 an hour (during stricter pandemic time).

My old store used to be about $1 to $1.15 per hour. We used to be a lot more “aggressive” about getting tips though. Not pushy, but like a rivalry mindful about getting tips. Now no one even cares. Sometimes I see the tip jar hidden somewhere behind something where the customer can’t even see it. It’s almost like the partners there and at my new store don’t even care about tips.

My store averages between .50-.60. We had .75/hr and that was a lot for us.

My old mall store used to average .40-.60 after Covid started.

This month has been brutally slow for us, our usual is around $1, but lately has been as low as .34c

Holidays pick way up. Uber wealthy neighborhoods all around us.

Our store usually averages somewhere around $2.20-$2-60 an hour, often times closer to $2.90 on a good week. However, the past few months we've been having staffing issues and have had weeks of closing at least 2-4+ hours early most days - but even with that, we haven't dipped below $1.50/hr.

The location isn't particularly high volume, and our peaks might only hit 40-50 customers in a half hour, but usually it's around 30-40. However, it is the only Starbucks within at least a 30 minute to hour radius, excluding the licensed stores in Safeways.

*edit: I don't really think it's a wealthy location, and definitely not a ton of people, according to google the two cities are max 25,000 combined, probably more like 20k.

I work in a wealthier city and we usually average about $1.20-$1.60 an hour.

Beneficial-Weird-817 1 points 11m ago
.60 cents or so, and I make like $2 in digital tips per paycheck lol
headsinavicee 1 points 11m ago
Okay lately my store has been making about $1 but it's normally about 70-80 cents.
Kyde_Drakes 1 points 11m ago
Lol, we barely get .30 an hour some weeks. I’ve only seen more than .70 on holidays. Only once did it go over $1 and that was Christmas Day last year.
putridfairy 1 points 11m ago
All together my tips are usually 8-20 dollars a week depending.
caseyfasey 1 points 11m ago
Did the tips for the first time last week. Our tippable hour ratio was 65¢/hr.
Boring_Peace_675 1 points 11m ago
1.30-1.60
mama_bibi 1 points 11m ago
Usually around 1.50 and up to 2. Every now and then it's gone a little over 2 but that's few and far between. I feel like people don't tip like they use to. I remember averaging around 2 a lot and now it's typically below 2

My old store it was anywhere from 70¢-$1.25. The store I just transferred to, in a completely different state, is only about 50¢. Tragiiiiic. I used to bring home an extra $20-30 bucks. I'd use it for gas and snacks. Now it's barely enough for like a quarter tank.

The cash tips at my store are usually between $3-4 an hour.
Affectionate_Fart 1 points 11m ago
Cash: 1.5’s to 2.0’s weekly.
I don’t look at digital slips because i just don’t.
But we’re a low volume store with about 20k-30k in sales weekly.
BabyH1ppo 1 points 11m ago
1.14-1.52/hr usually. My store is about 6k a day
Freezykiwi 1 points 11m ago
Cash tips are around .50/hr, app tips are like $6 for an entire two weeks of like 65-70 hours.
th3_thing 1 points 11m ago
$1.70ish
yungfroggie 1 points 11m ago
i make like 70c and hour in cash, $1.20 per hour card.
Anonymia1101 1 points 11m ago
around $1.23 per hour actually
brokenleftjoycon 1 points 11m ago
My store ranges from $0.65 to $1.1 usually. We’ve had as high as $1.6 but it’s probably been a year since then. We had better tips when the store closed earlier.
