Getting coffee not at starbies(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by T-Money-who
Just went to a local coffee shop and forgot where I was and kept saying venti!!! Has this happened to anyone else… I was so embarrassed! Been working at starbucks for 2 years it’s just natural for me to think that way now.

Dude, I've gone to Subway and ordered a venti sub.

Not to me, I encourage my customers to give us sm, med, lrg, x-lrg instead. I've worked here too long to care about pretentious sizes anymore. It confuses customers and wastes my time.

Usually I’m the same way!! Whenever I see a customer thinking about what size to say, I just tell them “sm, md, lrg” is fine! I don’t know where it came from 😂😂
Canadiansbux9 points11m ago
Same! I always tell them I would rather make you the right size then have you say the right word.

What I usually say in public is “behind!” I’ve got some looks!

Lmao I instinctively say “corner!” sometimes when I’m walking out from an aisle in Target. Usually (thankfully) nobody is there to hear it 😅
Then-Echo-69763 points11m ago
not the “behind” 😭 i’m just a new green bean and i’ve gotten into the habit of saying this outside of work

This hasn't happened to me yet thankfully but I definitely have to put real effort into not defaulting to "grande" when I want their medium size.
Venus_Fox1820 points11m ago
When I go to local shops, I make it a point to just ask for the ounces (ex: 12 oz iced coffee with x syrup) since I've found most places ive been to have similar ounce measures to Starbucks. I'm super self conscious about ordering things in general, so it takes me a good 5 minutes to work out my ordering sentence in my head tho lol
galaxyd1ngo3 points11m ago
I do the same! I get triple grandes so it’s just a billion times easier for me to walk up and ask “How many shots/pulls are in your 16oz?” and go from there

I’ve done this at dunkin and I’m like 🤣 oops sorry
uwumoment6 points11m ago

my DAD asked for a tall iced tea at a coffee shop today. he doesnt even work at sbux
Not_All_Their5 points11m ago
I almost ordered at “tall” today. I was at Peets.

i’m a barista and order “venti diet coke” at mcdonald’s sometimes
Brgnbo3 points11m ago
It’s ok I have to repeat my order in my head at other stores so I don’t mess it up. I don’t want actual baristas to judge me for being a starbies barista
maidofpuns3 points11m ago
Biggby Coffee calls their small and medium "tall" and "grande," respectively, so it weirds me out when I go there that I'm not using "Starbucks words" to order.
gabbysafari3 points11m ago
i’ve definitely tried ordering a grande at dunkin… first and last time i’ve went there lol
