“it wasn’t like i was going to run away without paying” (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by canidieyet_
says the woman who didn’t have a wallet, cash, card or phone anywhere in sight acting real sus and trying to snatch her things out of my hands. there’s a lot of people that don’t have their payment method out when they get to the window, but they’ll start to reach for it as soon as i start handing them things.

i was waiting on a panini and croissant to finish up and said i’d go ahead and pay her out while we were waiting on food. with the RUDEST tone she just tells me she doesn’t pay until holding all of her items. nuh-uh. i just knew this girl was going to floor it. asked for my manager, to whom she angrily stared at for a full minute as she dug out her card. literally didn’t even say anything to her, just stared at her. after my SM walked away she told me “nobody has EVER told me i have to pay before receiving all my items. that’s a bullshit policy and nobody has ever enforced it on ME”

best part? i never once mentioned i *had* to pay her out before receiving all her items or that it was a policy. all i said was “alright, i’ll go ahead and cash you out while waiting for [items]” and she immediately got pissed and asked for my manager.

every single person that came in today was in a mood, but she was extra pissy.

you did everything absolutely correctly in this scenario!! on my first day someone drove off with 2 drinks and i had a panic attack because there wasn't even a slight sign she wasn't going to pay, her app was even pulled up!! I'm really glad everything worked out okay :')

Imagine driving all the way to a Starbucks just to try and steal food because they’re too cheap to pay? Just wow.

I have one item in my hand the other open for payment. I hold the product hand close to the window with the open hand arm extended out. Basically doing an exchange like a hostage exchange at gun point. I’ve been burnt before with drive aways.

Only once we’re we told to start handing them items as they pay and NONE of us followed that because we know damn well what was going to happen if we do that! Yeah to hell with that noise lol

Yoooo EVERYONE has been in a mood lately at my store. Idk if it’s the heat or the customers are just entitled little brats but bruh I can’t take it anymore

Lol. I’m just imagining myself in that situation “oh . . . well . . . you still have to.” Sometimes it’s beneficial when I dial my social awkwardness up to an 11. 😂

I'll hand a food item as their payment is processing (if card or app) but never the drinks.
