I work at DT today and i accidentally said, ‘hi welcome to (my others jobs name)’ instead of welcome to starbucks. I wanted to die from there on 💀😩 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by omogal123
Anybody done this before 😮‍💨😮‍💨😅😅
ladysingtheblues 89 points 11m ago
"Hi, welcome to \[my name\], this is Starbucks, what can we get started for you?"

Hey at least you didn’t say “hi welcome to Target” that you never have even worked at 😂
sadthrow420 5 points 11m ago
I’ve done that too! Never once worked there!
Coltan375 4 points 11m ago
Why do we do this?????? I did it a couple times as well!
CobaltLemon 4 points 11m ago
I've done that too!!
a-vanilla-wafer 1 points 11m ago
I did this once except with Walmart! Have never even worked there🙄
shes-got-issues 43 points 11m ago
At some Korean cafe I worked at —

“Are you a Barnes and Noble member?” and also
“Just hit skip unless you’re a Target member”
omogal123 [OP] 9 points 11m ago
NOOOO 💀😂😂

I have a coworker that does it on purpose to see if the customers notice. Spoilers they don’t. Mans deadass said “Welcome to McDonald what kind of oil change are you getting today?” And people were just going on with there orders.
anxiouspeony 8 points 11m ago
Our location was attached to a great clips and we had people come through our line asking for a haircut (I wish I was kidding) so we started to say “welcome to great clips”
anissaf2000 4 points 11m ago
My old store was attached to a Popeyes and I was once cussed out by an 80 year old woman because she couldn’t get chicken strips in the Starbucks drive through
Buttafly_360 5 points 11m ago
I'm fuckin weaaaak🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
omogal123 [OP] 1 points 11m ago
Literally what happened to me 😅😅
yungfroggie 41 points 11m ago
i used to work at a mall, picked up the phone and literally said “thank you for calling spencer’s in [town] how can i help you— NO THIS IS STARBUCKS STARBUCKS IN [TOWN]” and thanked god it was a coworker 😭😭😭
RudeEstimate2245 24 points 11m ago
I almost say "love you bye" when the people drive away at the window 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😭
Victoriamarie03 3 points 11m ago

badatlife15 5 points 11m ago
Lol I don’t think I’ve done this part, but I’ve said we’ll see you at the window when they are leaving the window. Solo drive thru definitely messes me up.
waterdropss 21 points 11m ago
today i had a dude order a latte with some egg bites and afterwards i said “ok you guys are all se- … i’m so sorry… i just mean you’re all set.”
vices-president 18 points 11m ago
I’ve done this. “You guys have a good day” after handing out a single beverage, to one customer, sitting alone in their vehicle…. :)?
xaamanda 2 points 11m ago
i do this all the time
michelleiscliche 3 points 11m ago
i just say, “u guys have a nice day” when it’s just one person and i just shut the window and hope they don’t realize
anxiouspeony 8 points 11m ago
person is in their car very scared bc who the fuck does the barista see that I can’t
michelleiscliche 2 points 11m ago
LMFAOOOOOOO
kitsustar17 12 points 11m ago
I’ve answered the phone on numerous occasions and greeted like I would in the drive thru. One time a guy just laughed and asked, “Long day?”

Also, a store I worked at was previously a KFC so we would sometimes jokingly answer, “Thanks for coming to KFC, what can we get started for you?” The lack of pause from most people kinda proved no one is even listening to us anyway 🤷‍♀️
doobiewave 11 points 11m ago
Hey, thank you for chewing Starbursts, what can I get started for you?
sero5074 2 points 11m ago
LOOOOL
clouds183 1 points 11m ago
no today the phone rang and we were short staffed and my ssv was taking an order at front and I (barista of two months) came to front because the phone was ringing and I was gonna take over for the ssv so she could answer the phone bc I’ve never answered the phone before but she told me to answer it and so I had no time to think for what to say so I just answered with “Hi… Welcome to starbucks…”
and then realized they normally say “Hi Starbucks (this location) (name) speaking how can I help you”
bjorksbutthole 10 points 11m ago
I’ve had a coworker who worked at Chick-fil-a at the same time as Sbux say this. It’s kinda awkward but also comical. Don’t worry bout it haha
sero5074 3 points 11m ago
your username 😭

I worked at panda and Starbucks at the same time my closing statement working front resister

Starbucks: alright that will be ___ what’s a good name for the order
Panda: alright that will be ____ would you like to donate to the children hospital

And I messed them up alllll the time asking people if they wanted to donate at Starbucks and I was like I’m sorry I’m doing the wrong job closing statement I got a lot of laughs but some like oh dear child you work to much 😓🫠
badatlife15 8 points 11m ago
I’ve said the dto greeting when picking up the phone. Also, had a coworker say welcome to chili’s on purpose one day to mess with customers and said he would keep doing it until someone called him out. My best glitch was when I was on Dto, read back the customer’s drink and skipped over the food, then went to tell them their total and say see you at the window, but instead flat out said “bacon gouda.” I was dying laughing and the customer had a good laugh too.
rudebii 7 points 11m ago
One morning, peak summer, half our orders were fraps, partner on reg starts saying “welcome to Frappuccinos, what kind of Frappuccino can we get you today?” Lots of confused faces, but then they’d proceed to order their venti mocha frapp.😂
Art3mmis 6 points 11m ago
one time i shouted “welcome to moe’s!” when someone walked into café. i have never worked at moe’s southwestern grill, and i’ve been there 5 times max in my whole life. i have no idea where it came from
Buttafly_360 2 points 11m ago
Ahhhh, I felt this😭😭
ConditionFirst2522 6 points 11m ago
“Hi welcome to Chilis” 🧍🏻‍♀️
Alternative-Put4708 6 points 11m ago
I said what Can I get farted for you today once
bobbysangtheblues 3 points 11m ago
Yes the cursed combo of “what can I get FOR you” and “what can I get STARTED” lmaooo has happened to me too
Jfostr0 2 points 11m ago
I just want say this now to see if anyone catches it
Flowerfuls 6 points 11m ago
Someone once asked what kind of donuts we had and it triggered my former Dunkin brain in to resurfacing 🤣
DamnitDean 6 points 11m ago
I do it for fun sometimes when it’s slow.
bjorksbutthole 6 points 11m ago
That’s odd 😂 How do people usually respond? And what’s the other fast food place you reference
DamnitDean 10 points 11m ago
Hi welcome to the coffee bean usually gets side eyes from the shift lol
bjorksbutthole 2 points 11m ago
Love it
Theotar 5 points 11m ago
I did that on the big speaker when I worked at safe way right after working at subway. Wanted to quit right then and there.
Federal_Chemist_5009 5 points 11m ago
ive accidentally said ‘’yes sir’’ to a woman at register and at the drive thru i once said ‘hello welcome to starbucks ma’am’’ and it was a guy
with long hair. he had his back head facing me and when he turned around that’s when i had realised. thankfully he didn’t say anything about it. poor guy is probably used to it by now 😭
theroyaleyeball 4 points 11m ago
I went to a local independent coffee shop (with a menu that puts the Starbucks one to *shame*) and I ordered a tall instead of a small. I’m sure they get that all the time but I profusely apologized and admitted I work for the Siren. I wanted to crawl under a table so bad.
she_who_walks 3 points 11m ago
I said “Hi welcome to Star Wars, what can I get for you?” And then tried to laugh it off, make it into a joke… man REFUSED to laugh or engage at allllll which made it SO much worse
Jfostr0 3 points 11m ago
I said welcome to Firehouse once not long after I started and I haven’t worked a firehouse subs in like 10 years. It just snapped like a reflex lmao
nghtmrafterxmas 3 points 11m ago
This isn't when I worked at Starbucks, but a similar situation happened when I was working at a restaurant with my best friend. She lived two hours away, and worked at a Red Lobster in that town, and she was staying in the area for a few weeks, and picked up a couple of shifts at the restaurant we worked at just for some extra cash. She was answered the phone for a togo order and answered with "(Town name) Red Lobster, how can I help you?" and it confused the fuck out of the person on the phone, but it turned out they called the wrong restaurant anyways lol
pinkjortz 3 points 11m ago
One time I said “welcome to Wendy’s” and I have never in my life worked at a Wendy’s
rudebii 3 points 11m ago
“Sir, this is a Wendy’s restaurant”
SportsChick79 2 points 11m ago
I did it by accident but it was Hi welcome to (job I left in 2016!). My SM was on headset and absolutely busted a gut. I chuckled in the headset and said, apparently I am not appropriately caffeinated this morning but what can I get you so one of us is properly caffeinated,
greenssv 2 points 11m ago
Our store is across from a sonic...and I answered with thanks for calling sonic....the customer and myself could not stop laughing and then asked if she could get a foot long cheese coney.....happens to the best of us.
yaaasqueenie 2 points 11m ago
Back in 2021 I was talking to my coworker about Russia, and a car pulled up. I proceeded to say "Hi welcome to Russia... Omg I mean Starbucks" and we all laughed for a solid minute
yaaasqueenie 1 points 11m ago
I've also picked up the phone, and at the end said "okay thanks you can drive on through" 🙃
roryascher27 2 points 11m ago
i’ve done this twice. prior to working at starbucks i worked at dunkin’ donuts, and i accidentally said “hello and thank you for choosing dunkin” and i just about died inside. but even funnier was when my dumbass said “hi welcome to chilis” …. i have never worked at chilis i just had that meme stuck in my head 😭😭😭
nikkicarter1111 2 points 11m ago
Let me tell you a secret...if you say it in the same tone and cadence than you say "hi welcome to Starbucks what can I get started for you today" 90% of your customers will not notice.
My last store I did a lot of DTO/DTR because I genuinely liked it, it was busy enough to never have to make small talk at the window, and we kept a little whiteboard by the window. In the evenings or when my manager wasn't around I'd tally the number of times I could get someone on the headset to burst out laughing by greeting customers. Bonus points if they were in the lobby sweeping or something

My go-to was always "welcome to in and out where that's what a burger's all about, what can I get started for you today?"

I think I had less than 20 customers go "wait....what?" In the entire year I was there
nikkicarter1111 2 points 11m ago
I also highly recommend "welcome to Starbucks where you're the star" and "thanks for choosing the bucks, home of the beans"
Chondodo 2 points 11m ago
I worked at a pizza place and bux at the same time. Many venti pizza’s were had.
madydt 2 points 11m ago
i say thanks for stopping at culvers on the weekly and i’ve never worked there
coooffieee 2 points 11m ago
yeah i answered the phone and said mcdonalds lmaoo
croissantboyy 2 points 11m ago
my gf does this all the time but on purpose and customers love it or get super confused for a second!! she'll go "hi welcome to wendy's!" and sometimes a customer has to step back and do a double take lol. just turn it into a joke! if it happens again and you're embarrassed you can also just say "haha just kidding, this is starbucks, what can i get started for you?"
fuckingveganshark 2 points 11m ago
one time on DTO i almost said “hi welcome to walmart!” … i’ve never worked at walmart before
IgnoranceIsBliss223 1 points 11m ago
when i was in training, i said "hi, thank you so much for choosing chick fil a--" and then me AND my trainer started laughing.

i never said it again but... wew. glad i don't work for CFA anymore.
liothepetfox16 1 points 11m ago
i once worked at a burger king, then a mcdonald’s, and i said “hi welcome to BK what can i get for you?”, BUT IT GETS WORSE. i also said once “hi welcome to subway what can i get for you?”. in drive thru. subway doesn’t have a drive thru.
IvoryAngel11207 1 points 11m ago
i’ve done this before. the sad thing is that the person listening would probably believe you and say “oh i’m at the wrong place i’m sorry”
sapphicshortcake 1 points 11m ago
One time someone ordered a glass of water and I said "meet you at the water" instead of window
Dry-Lawfulness3682 1 points 11m ago
There’s an aldi right across the street from my Starbucks that’s super visible from the DT window, and I took an order while looking at the building… ended up saying “Good morning, welcome to Aldi….. oh my god, I’m so sorry, welcome to Starbucks.” The customer thought it was super funny tho so that saved me some embarrassment
redcheekboy 1 points 11m ago
I've called out an impossible whopper before, even though I've never worked at burger King
anxiouspeony 1 points 11m ago
When I worked at a drive thru location we would say “hi welcome to the carwash”
omogal123 [OP] 1 points 11m ago
Y’all THANK YOU ALL FOR THIS COMMENTS!!! Y’all make me feel better my co workers give me a shit look thats why i wanted to die and also added to my list why i wanna leave. But reading y’all comments got me hollering 😂 hope all your pillows are soft and warm tonight
niftyynifflerr 1 points 11m ago
I had a coworker regularly conflate his other two jobs with sbux all the time. I switch up my script regularly and sometimes my words get scrambled on the way out so I say some nonsense sentences pretty regularly!
urlessies 1 points 11m ago
i used to work at a fast food place before starbucks and when i was first starting out at SB i said the same thing!
