My god, I hated today so much. (Store opens 7, I started at 8:30) we had 3 people working today (it’s also a decent sized store with no drive through but is a cafe) and it was a living nightmare because someone went home when I arrived and it was super busy. I was on till (meaning I had to do food and drip coffee AND TAKE ORDERS) but some guy comes in and orders 21 items and 11 of those were breakfast sandwiches! While I was getting through the line up, I put some food in every 1 or 2 people because they were lined up out the door, and my god are people impatient, I had 7 of the food items done and then he comes up to the other till and started asking where the food is (like bro I have 2 arms and zero help but thanks) and we told him we will get it out to you as soon as possible. I’m glad it’s Canada and nobody is like crazy angry (but lots are impatient, it like a stigma to be angry here btw, jk). But how does someone even have the idea to complain about waiting no even 20 minutes for food? But also why can’t we have more people when it’s busy like this to where if one calls sick we aren’t left dying trying to help everyone? I’m grateful to my very experienced shift manager though for keeping her cool and having and not stressing us out by keeping the spirits high!
Is this situation worth talking to my Store Manager about?
Also for anyone stressed out by it being busy, just keep in mind that this is only Starbucks and not McDonalds (which you are required to be super quick all the time) so just take a breather and always know that if you aren’t quick, that’s okay and you aren’t required to be a pro ever.
