Do y’all get these customers?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Do y’all get these certain people come in who act offended you asked them if they wanted any milk or sugar in their coffee, americano, etc.? This guy said “no, I’m a man!” In response to the question. Thanks for telling me your pronouns, do you still not want any cream or sweetener?

The small number of men whose masculinity is threatened by coffee is very funny. There's the guys who order frappuccinos or something who will make sure to tell me that "this is for the wife, I don't even know what it is", and then there's the guys who order with an exaggerated performative incompetence. "She wanted me to get... I think it's called a white.... mocha? Am I saying that right? Is that a real thing?" Like ok dude let's just get on with it.
waterdropss27 points11m ago
the second type of men are much more common sadly (at least from what i’ve seen). they’ll come in holding their phone and they’re like “yeah so she wants… a white mocha… with vanilla… foam cream… and caramel drizzle but she wants it on the cup too… and *insert syrups and other modifications here too”
ladysingtheblues46 points11m ago
Brad you do this every week I know you can say caramel drizzle
Brgnbo25 points11m ago
Dude I had a guy come in and apologize for his girlfriends complicated order before ordering and it was literally just a white mocha with almond milk. Not even iced. I was like sir.. that is.. one of the easiest drinks I’ve had all day.

👀👀
djdementia33 points11m ago
Or the people that say "just black" then get it and actually did want cream and sugar.
Necessary_Low9394 points11m ago
Maybe the color blind

The thing these men don’t get is that (anecdotally, from my experience working at a store with almost entirely female partners and being female myself) it’s actually way more attractive/“masculine” to just have the confidence to order whatever you/she likes. We had a guy we called Pink Drink Guy who would come through DT and order a Pink Drink for himself and the way he said it in a cool baritone had us blushing and pretending to swoon like it was a tv teen soap 😂 he knew what he liked and no one was gonna make him feel bad about it! majorly attractive imho
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]11 points11m ago
Dude that’s actually pretty attractive. Crazy concept but being confident is way more attractive then lying to yourself or restricting yourself to seem cool
FrustratingBears22 points11m ago
yes!!!! and then there’s some people who walk up and I can *predict* that they’re about to order a cold brew with nothing in it
Ordinary-Theory-828916 points11m ago
Hey nothing wrong with black cold brew! Just don’t let your masculinity be threatened by a little milk lol
FrustratingBears3 points11m ago
for real though
and the people who think their masculinity will be affected by getting classic in their iced coffee
Tvdrone1619 points11m ago
Make him say Pinkety Drinkety
Tdawwg789 points11m ago
It’s ridiculous . We are not mind readers.

one time one of my ssv was taking a front order and asked a man if he wanted his blueberry scone warmed to which the man replied “no i’m american”
PlantVader6 points11m ago
When manly men order pink drinks I try my hardest to convince them it’s called a pinkity Drinkity
leoperidot167 points11m ago
We had a guy come through the drive thru in a landscaping truck and order a pinkity drinkity!! Like he really thought it was the name of the drink. Made my day :)
kidcharliemagne5 points11m ago
when i notice a customer is uncomfortable ordering something i do my best to make them comfortable! i put on my “dude” voice and hype up all the ingredients. i swap “pink” out for “berry”, and explain what “frappuccino” means…i feel like some men have been gatekept from coffee. i want to include them, and they always smile after :)
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]5 points11m ago
This is amazing I always make sure if someone is staring at the menu board to let me know if they have any questions or need to play the “what is the best suggestion for you today game!” They get a little bit more interested in the game because they get to try something new and in the game you go through what is what a bit. Starting with hot or cold, sweet, fruity, strong coffee taste, and any dietary restrictions. From there you can explain what a frap is vs a macchiato vs a latte vs a refresher.
mrcupcake185 points11m ago
Yes! Something similar to this a guy came in my drive and asked if we had any man drinks. I like dis not say anything for an uncomfortable amount of seconds and everyone on the headset was making faces because we were just like “really??” And my response was “I don’t understand you’re question because none of our drinks are gendered”. Tf like what? Ugh dude just get a pink drink and shut up, no on cares -__-
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]4 points11m ago
… what does he want? Bear grillz to walk out with mud on his face, and make coffee with only a snake and his pee? Is that a man’s drink?
Kaluskydrak5 points11m ago
I would’ve responded with “oh I’m sorry, did you want any cream or sugar, sir?”
icedcarfee4 points11m ago
one time a guy on DT said “this is going to sound fruity but i swear it’s not for me” and proceeded to order a venti iced white mocha with vscf and caramel drizzle… sir……..
uwumoment4 points11m ago
we have this group of men called pike men that come in 30 mins before close, they ask for a shit load of sugar on the side everytime and steamed cream on the side as well, so idk why it’s a stereotype that men don’t like that in their coffee
Necessary_Low9392 points11m ago
We get all types of bad customers. And in my opinion this one ain’t too bad. Better than those who didn’t even pay yet and start yelling how they want their drinks to be made
