So my store hasn't been able to get the safe open for almost a week now. Because of this the shifts haven't been able to distribute tips to the baristas. My store closes down this Friday July 29 for a remodel and I am also leaving for college out of state in a couple weeks. My asm posted in the group chat that they hope to get the tips out to us before we close but I rely on my tips and the asm and sm at my store are not known for getting things done in a timely manner. I was wondering what Starbucks' policy is on not being able to get tips because I really rely on my tips sadly? Or what advice people have for me? Like I said it's not even like I could come back when we reopen because I'm in college out of state. Any advice is appreciated!

Maybe email the DM? Like they won’t care you can’t your tips, but they will care if cash isn’t being secured overnight because you can’t use the safe. It should get it fixed faster.

This ^^^.
Also, if you need to use this info, they’re required to mail your tips to you if you’re no longer in the area. And you can press them on this because they’ll probably tell you that’s not true. It’s also illegal for them to withhold tips since it’s your money so keeping it from you is the same as stealing. But what the other person commented is the most important factor, if they don’t listen, they’ll absolutely pay attention to the fact that the safe hasn’t been properly used and cash has not been secure for over a week. That’s a HUGE issue.

This happened at my store you either take an estimate payout for it or you wait. They don’t care about us or the money we need lol

They should have submitted a ticket. But I couldn’t tell you more without knowing the issue. One time our safe time reset on us so we couldn’t open it. Your tips are there so SB isn’t going to do anything for you though you just have to wait.
Now you could open an iPad. Sign in to my daily and see if they put a ticket in. All these fixing stuff isn’t just done when we want. We have to wait on the repair people to come. Sometimes it takes a while sometimes not. Your SMs can’t magically make them appear.
As for if you leave you can ask them to mail your tips to your new address ! They can’t toss them or anything but they can mail them to you !

They haven't even put in a ticket yet like I said my sm and asms don't ever get anything's done. But that is a good idea to have them mailed thank you!

Your shifts are also responsible for it. If anything they should have done it. I’m an SSV and we’re the ones responsible for putting those types of tickets in. Baristas can do so as well through my daily.
Yeah I had to have some sent out before. We have a ton of old partner tips :) legally can’t take them lol.

This doesn’t quite make sense to me. If the safe can not open then where are they keeping the tills overnight? How are they parring the tills? What about when Garda comes to pick up the deposits? Can they get the safe to open?

I think the very rare times there were issues with a safe while I was at Starbucks tills were just left in the locked drawers. If you can't access the safe, there isn't really anywhere safer. You can probably keep deposit bags in a till too to at least keep them separate, but space would be an issue. And not being able to restock bills and change from the safe would become a problem real fast I think. I don't think I've seen a store have this issue more than just overnight.

They haven't been able to make deposits at the bank either. As far as I'm aware they keep the tills somewhere in the back but honestly I'm not sure. Communication isn't very good at my store

You need to call your DM and report this.
readinginthestorm [OP]1 points11m ago
But like what would I even say? I doubt they're interested in me not getting tips ya know?
yungfroggie3 points11m ago
tell them that your supervisors haven’t submitted a ticket to repair the safe so not only can you not access tips, but money from the till isn’t being put away securely!
fuwaldah2 points11m ago
Of course they are. Any DM would be incensed at the idea that a store has neglected a broken safe for this long.
anxiouspeony1 points11m ago
Ours was broken for 2 months and our dm did not care
fuwaldah2 points11m ago
It's more likely your SM kept it a secret from them.
