Corporate or Franchise? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by fluidrienne17
I currently work at a Starbucks franchise inside the mall and I’m thinking of applying to a corporate store to the city I’m moving to for college.

How different is a franchise from a corporate store? At my location we’re incredibly behind technology wise like we can’t scan for stars, we can’t scan QR codes for payment and we’re still marking cups.

That being said what should I expect differently?

Starbucks doesn’t have franchised stores. You probably work at a licensed store.

Standards will probably be stricter, it will probably be busier, and you will have to learn new things that franchises don’t do (like you mentioned, scanning for stars etc.). But your benefits will likely be way, way, way, better. You can get free food every shift, free drinks (up to a certain amount), 1 lb of coffee beans a week, and lots more. That’s the absolute game-changer imo.

I work at a licensed store (inside a king soopers) when I come home for the summer from college, and during the year I work for a corporate store. The biggest thing is there’s a lot more to do in corporate stores and ur hours will probably be a lot less than they are now. Licensed stores are usually a LOT less busy as well, while in corporate you have the cafe, drive thru, etc. i prefer working corporate bc you get the corporate benefits (free drinks & food)
