This is suuuuper common as a newbie, I think everyone goes through it. It sucks, but try to remember that it’s not personal — your shift is likely deploying you there because they know that you are reliable in that position and they don’t have to worry about you there. Not excusing it — I remember how rough it was! — but especially if you work during peak it can be hard to find good opportunities to give newer partners experience in other positions without sacrificing your metrics (drive times etc.), which the SSV is basically responsible for and can get in trouble with the SM for not meeting.

That being said, the absolute best thing you can do is bring the issue to your shift! They may not even realize how often they’re putting you there or for how long, and they definitely don’t know how you feel about it if you haven’t told them. In my experience, opening up that conversation in an understanding way is the best way to figure out why you’re always being put there and how things can be changed. Chances are they will be totally willing and able to work with you on getting more experience in other positions outside of peak, rotating your deployment more, etc.!
