I haven’t been a barista in ages but I still sometimes remember a regular Betsy with her Venti Flat Whites. She was a huge reader and went to book conventions a bunch and I totally wanted to start a book club with her!

I delve so much into the lives of my favorite regulars. I know when they go on trips, when their SO is out of the country for work, a new family member is born, and so much more. Everyone at my store jokes I’m the one who knows everyone. I got stuck on the DT a ton my first two months of working here so I got to know a ton of our regulars; and I love every single one. Except the gum lady, she can kindly leave me alone.

One of my regulars I got to sit down with and have coffee after I quit was a high school music teacher and as a former band kid it was just so cool to me to chat about our expierence and he told me he hoped that his students will look back on their time in band as fondly as I still do as an adult.

So nope, not just you.

My store is rather busy, but whether my coworkers like it or not I always try to make time to talk to all of my costumers, esp regulars. Regulars are where your money (and your tips) are made the most. If anyone complains, tell them you're making customer connections, something Starbucks seems to have forgotten about

It’s funny, when I was “behind the counter”, the last thing I would ever daydream about was spending more time in a coffee shop.
Did I have regulars I wanted to grab a drink with? Absolutely. That drink was never more coffee.

we have a lovely regular who has known our manager since she arrived at the location and consistently only chooses ours due to all of the workers there. he’s super sweet! and he got a shift lead a birthday gift once -
also have one guy we first named as “guy who loves his wife” as he comes in numerous times a week to get his wife a drink, and he’s gotten her numerous of cups he uses for it. He’s such a hilarious and awesome dude, we all want to meet his wife and just see how amazing she is

He pretends he has a wife. He just wants to see all of you.

A few of them are interesting enough I wouldn't mind chatting with, but not the 'popular ' regulars. I like the odd ducks not the pretty people most my fellow partners like.

I feel so lucky the other day I got my lunch as soon as my favorite regular walked in. And when she’s there she’s not in a rush so I know I can just sit down and talk with her for a moment, the best.

I do already sit and chat with my fave customer during my 1 hour breaks when they're around, I ask politely if it's fine of course, I don't want to end-up bothering them or get in between of stuff 😅.

It's pretty great getting to know her, people can just be so different and interesting after you go behind the initial impression they give. It all started when she suddenly started asking for me personally to make her coffee. She always asks for me to do it when I'm around, this got me curious so I tried prying and small talking over hand-off. One day I felt pretty comfortable since we talk quite bit in the store, so I asked if we could exchange socials. Now we chat from time to time, expressed that I'd like to get to know her more, and now I share a table with her for some chat and coffee when she's alone.

Try befriending one from your list, doesn't it tickle your curiousity as to what you'll find-out? Who knows, you might end-up with good company.

I actually ended up adding one of my fave regulars on Facebook and we hung out for lunch yesterday! He was so chill and nice and trusts me to take care of his animals. We're buddies now for real

yeah the attractive ones 🤭

there’s this mid twenties couple that used to come through all the time and i wonder how they are! the last time i saw them i almost gave them a post it with my socials on it cuz they were so cool! we got invested in each other’s lives and i miss them 🥺i haven’t seen them in months
but yeah! i have a few others that i would love to get a drink with! it wouldn’t be coffee tho, i’m not sitting in a cafe 🫤 i’d be too interested in how their job is and how their machines work instead of the people i’d potentially sit down with lol

I have made many good friends, and community connections through my work as a barista. Networking is a perk of the job.

We used to hang out with a bunch of regulars. We’d be invited to parties and stuff too. One time a few us went to a regular’s party, having a good time, and early on other people kept asking how we knew the hosts, we’d just say “we make their coffee everyday!”

We’d hook up with customers too, even our first SM. When he started hooking up with the SM of the Carl’s Jr. down the road, he’d tell us “if my wife calls, say I’m at the corporate office.” LMAO.

I picked my favourite regulars when I was doing the tastings for my black apron. It was pretty fun.
