Personally speaking, which is better to work at? A corporate store or a licensing store? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Corporate.
Better pay, bennies, AND you have help.

I like having help. Lol. I'm thinking about coming back because honestly, I miss my regulars and I miss the structure Starbucks offered.

It depends on what you value (benefits vs pay vs responsibilities), and it also depends on the store.

Barnes and Noble Café was annoying. They did everything by the book, they paid minimum wage (which is ironic cause they’re highly selective during the hiring process), and I was never allowed a free drink. They wouldn’t even let me sample drinks when I started the job. Perks were free advanced copies of books and 40% off pretty much everything in the store, but honestly, despite me being a huge book nerd, I would’ve preferred free drinks.

Target is amazing. They pay four dollars above minimum wage, and the store I work at is super lax. I don’t think we’re supposed to be doing this, but my manager let’s us drink whatever we want whenever we want. We have a lot of freedom to do what we want during shifts, and we have less responsibility than a corporate store (no cleaning bathrooms, no drive through, etc.). Downsides are a dirty bar and sucky managers, but I’ve gotten used to the filth, and the managers leave us alone for the most part.

I’ve never worked at a corporate store, but it seems like a lot to handle with drive through and extensive cleaning and whatnot. Benefits are decent from what I’ve heard though.

I was a team lead at a target starbucks, free rinks isn't a perk through the store. I lobbied for it when we opened, even if it was just brewed beverages and was told it wasn't fair to other team members and corporate viewed it as theft and you could be fired for it.

No one really cares at my store. My TL makes herself so many drinks per shift. The dudes in AP don’t care, and they even ask for free drinks occasionally

And “not fair to other team members” my ass. Only petty people wouldn’t want baristas to get free drinks throughout their shift. Even if I worked in another department, I’d be happy for baristas.

But good to know, thank you!

CORPORATE!!!

How come?

License store: your always alone, no help (at least with my experience), no benefits
Corporate: benefits, drink mark outs, never having to close/ open alone, tips.

Yeah opening and closing alone is not great for my anxiety. lol

You also can never find coverage for a shift if your sick/ have an emergency due to less staff. And they get MAD if you call out cause it’s only you on the floor.

Corporate. You get a discount, free food and drinks, and pretty decent pay

Corporate. I have a much better work life balance. My insurance at Target was actually better, but I was alone for 90% of most my shifts. I made more money at Target, but at the time Sundays were time and half and I averaged 50 hrs a week.
I do work at a cafe only store. I don't think I'd ever transfer to a drive thru.

I don't blame you. lol. Drive thrus are a headache and then some!

I work at a licensed store and starting wage is $17/hr for working at the airport Starbucks. +$3 raise if you wanna open. I could be wrong but I think we get payed more. We still get free food and drinks, and I even get a trimet pass for the train/bus :)
