PSA This may sound a bit harsh but it's decent advise from a SSV (self.starbucksbaristas)

SSVs this is for you the most but baristas please listen. I have worked for Starbucks for a few years now and have worked at 5 stores. The Majority of the stores I have worked at have not been pleasant. Do you know what helps a shift run faster/smoother? When you stop focusing so much on the negative customers or complaining about the customers who want to have a good experience by trying something new they saw on TikTok or Insta. Seriously stop complaining about every mild inconvenience and start focusing on every positive interaction. A customer doesn't have enough cash to buy a drink? See if your SSV is okay with recovering that person's drink this one time, they might use the cash they did save to leave a tip. Did someone tip 3 cents? Acknowledge it and say thanks instead of complaining that they "only tipped 3 cents". Next time that regular that comes in that always strikes up a conversation or is always asking questions, just tell them you really appreciate their hospitality or positivity or whatever. I promise it might take some time to get used to doing, but when other baristas hear you being more positive it will raise some spirits and change the energy in your store.

Maybe I’m lucky even though the stores I was in were very high stress between short staff, covid, and a partner’s unexpected passing i always had great coworkers, two stores, I can’t say anything negative about any of them. There were times morale went down due to things outside our control but even then I still felt the vibe of “we’re down in the shit together”…

Life hack on small change tips, ask if they want the spare change nobody likes carrying loose change unless it’s like quarters
