I didn’t step down at SB, but I was a shift leader at a different fast casual type place prior. When I saw how much more work and how little pay raise for what I knew the shift would responsible for I said no thanks when my manager asked if I had interest in training for SSV. i would say step down i don’t remember exactly the pay difference when I asked one of my co-workers but I remember looking at him like 🤨 because it was not much.

I’ve been at Starbucks for awhile so when we get the raise in a few days I’ll be $5 ish more a hr then starting wage for barista

Ok that’s definitely better than what it was at the time (over a year ago). I suppose it doesn’t do any harm to inquire about the training and see how you feel. Maybe you’ll enjoy it, maybe you’ll realize you feel better where you’re at. It was also at high volume big city drive thru with short staffing, height of Covid issues, etc… so extra stress on top of typical. I also worked at a smaller cafe after and being a shift seemed like it could’ve been cool there.

Honestly a lot of shifts I work with, even a 20 year partner said that being a shift is too much stress but the money is decent. The 20 or a partner stepped down from being a shift because it just wasn’t worth it to him. Honestly maybe talk to your sm about how you’re feeling? A lot has changed with this company since I’ve been rehired a year ago it’s insane.
