Worked 3yrs at Starbucks, and had to quit pretty suddenly for my health. I had to take a 1mo long medical leave at one point recovering from surgery. I ended up *not* claiming disability during this time despite previously thinking I would and my manager advocated to call Sedgwick on my behalf when I returned and work out back paying my 70+ sick hours for the month instead. This never happened, and I lost those hours entirely upon quitting. Any chance of still being back paid for this leave, or is it a lost cause?
Surgery also cost me close to $6k, and although I’m less hopeful about this possibility, I also found out retrospectively that Starbucks will cover up to $10k for these procedures. I am still barely scraping by with enough saved for emergencies almost a year later and to have the ability to retroactively claim reimbursement would be actually incredible.
I know both of these are super long shots and I don’t expect much of anything from either, but if anyone has insight into how I might be able to access at least some of my earned hours in sick time the advice would be incredible. I’m not sure if it’s a matter of calling PRC or if that would even be an option anymore given my numbers are inactive. I did leave the company in a respectful manner and all of my former management is on great terms, if that’s of any relevance to the possibility of this happening.
