Held it too low and banged it pulling up by the underside of the counter is my guess.

They’re actually kinda flimsy and really wear down over time. They don’t usually break like that but it’s not unheard of. I’ve definitely noticed quite a few of them get loose.

A couple of ours have broken after being used to scoop the grounds for your garden too many times
