Is it normal for a SS to put a barista on drive thru for 6-7 hours straight? (self.starbucksbaristas)

My shift put me on drive through for my whole 7 hour shift. Every time I tried to do something else he put me back on it. Now he’s saying the registers are short. What do I do?

i would express that for shifts that long, you’d really like to move around a bit. maybe ask if half way through your shift you can switch to another station, if you know you have a long shift and you just got put on DT. or, just ask during the shift, say “hey, can i please have a break from dt? anyone wanna switch with me for an hour?”

During peak, I don’t change out my partners but before and after that I most certainly do. Even with a small crew I try to limit their time on drive to the max at an hour.

I don't know about Starbies drive thru because I work at a kiosk but when I was at Micky D's I was on drive thru for eight months straight 🥹🔫

If you're worried about being falsely accused of stealing I wouldn't worry. They have cameras watching the register. Your SSV should be printing out a cashier report at the end of each shift that has each drawer listed and how much they need to deposit in cash from each drawer. If they are lazy about switching drawers out then it's on them. If it's under you specifically, then consider that a verbal warning. Just remember to double check change you give out. Keeping your drawer organized also really helps.

99% of the time I’m put on drive thru and I hate it so much guys😭😭 One time I was planted there my entire shift and the ssv forgot to send me on my breaks. One of my worst shifts ever tbh🙃

I would express that you would like a change around during your shift, I am sure he can find a way to swap positions. Maybe ask him why you are always put there, it could be he sees you as strong in that position and so wants you to stay there. Anyway, I feel everyone should be moved around during the shift. Because people get tired, mistakes happen, people get upset and then it causes tension which leads to issues.

It’s happened and it sucked, but it shouldn’t happen too often. The worst is being stuck on warming forever. Freaking shoot me.
