question about borrowed partners(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by b99__throwaway
we have a borrowed partner who picks up shifts at our store a frequently (once every week or every other week) through the app. they are generally disrespectful (indirectly, mostly undermining the shift team’s authority - they are a barista), use their phone a lot on the floor for non work related stuff, even if they’re on bar, lollygag, gossip, and generally just aren’t a treat to work with. i have had coaching conversations with them but we are not their home store. i will be bringing it up to my manager the next time i work with her but my question is: is there a need to bring this up to their manager, and is there a way to maybe restrict them from picking up shifts at our store? am i overreacting? it sometimes feels like they’re a child with divorced parents as i don’t know if their home store’s shift team is coaching them on these things or if they even act this way at their store. idk, how does cross-store discipline work lol
edit: thank you! i’ll talk to my manager when i see her :))

I’d talk to the SM. They can forward the feedback to their home store SM.

If they aren’t contributing as a team member (guest or not) yes talk to your SM… we only ever had one dud borrowed partner. She kept going on her cell phone too, walking around in circles not doing stuff that SSV explained, invited her boyfriend in and was flirting at the hand off forever…. Nice girl when we talked, but as a partner glad she went back to her store.

Maybe keep a post it pad on you and write down what you notice in a day. You could present that to your SM.
On another note: How do you pick up shifts from other stores on the app? 🤯 idek you could do that

i think if you’re in the other stores system as a borrowed partner you can pick up shifts at their store through the app. so you would’ve had to have been on their schedule at one point or another, not just called by their shift an hour before they needed coverage (as that would probably just get written on the line chart). you can probably just ask a manager of another store to add you to the system so you can pick up their open shifts :)

this sounds like my co-worker (wouldn't be surprised if it is her) but talk with your SM because if they are doing an inadequate job and being a stick in the mud, then there is no point in letting them cover shifts at your location. And probably, if they are taking up shifts, can mean their own store don't want them working there often because of their work ethics.
