Customer gave me attitude today because his decaf pour over took too long after I explained to him that it was going to be a few minutes and he said he was okay with that. I said “I’m sorry for the wait” and he said “I’m sorry too” after I handed him his drink. 🤨 like why are you annoyed with me? Be annoyed at yourself for getting it.

I refuse to apologize for the amount of time people wait for a drink that takes several minutes to make. You ordered it, we made it (and we always let you know it is a pour over). If you’re upset about the wait, order something else. Same thing with iced tea lattes.

He learned the hard way today about pour overs.

Same! I never say “sorry for the wait” it’s always “thank you for your patience” I ain’t sorry about ANYTHING

I never apologize for the wait unless *I* personally did something to cause it. I will thank a customer for their patience (even if they’re impatient lol) but you will very rarely hear me say sorry

I was in the middle of grinding up pike to brew, that’s why I said sorry, but I guess all the people in cafe and us being low on our brews was an inconvenience to him smh

meee im trying to get myself to stop saying sorry (both in and out of work) and just say “thanks for waiting”

I always tell them 5-10 minutes for a pour over, not a few minutes cause people's time perception is terrible.
We have one semi regular that has zero patience, but always orders food during a rush. He rarely comes in since I started printing out his receipt and saying, you ordered at X:XX and you were told at least 10 minutes. It's been 3 minutes, so only 7 or so more minutes till it's done.

Lol screw that. People start panicking when inside a starbucks. Its like waiting does something to them lol. We had a guy who once ordered a venti hot pike and it was literally in the process of brewing more and we told him that and he went aside to wait and was fine with it. He was on the phone with someone as he waited. He wasnt even waiting 5 minutes yet and he ended up walking over to the registers and tells my shift supervisor "just give me whatever hurry up"...first, eww. And second, doesnt he feel embarrassed acting like a fool while on the phone with someone? Like the person on the other end has to hear that mans nasty attitude. He should be embarrassed for acting like that

Yesterday someone got a pour over and I put my coffee master ™ in training mode on and helped him out and explained the roasts we were brewing after he chose I told him it’s going to take probably about 5 minutes give it take. 2 minutes later this guy is standing at the hand off getting huffy because his drink takes time to make (that I told him and he said okay) THEN when I finish and give him it he literally opens the lid pours out a good inch of the freshly made HOT coffee into our cafe trash can (which will melt the trash bags) and was like Um cream.
That’s all that’s the story I was just baffled by him pouring hot liquid into a trash can with plastic trash bags that will melt

Omg, I’ve had someone do this to me once before. B asked for some extra milk, or cream, I don’t even remember. She hadn’t drank from her cup, just looked at it and decided it was too lite. All I remember is stopping her and taking it back to pour it down my sink which was directly in front of her full view at handoff.

I had a customer ask us to used a French press in the back of the house and grind beans to its setting serve him a reg price cup of hot coffee. The entitlement. Although we did have the French press, it was in the basement and it’s hard to locate it. I just said — oh we don’t have it.

UGH I was on oven the other day and the tickets all got stuck so it was taking a bit to fix it and pull tickets and when I handed something out to this one customer I said “I’m so sorry for the wait” and his response to me was “you should be” I WAS ACTUALLY SHOOK I couldn’t even respond I turned to my partner and had to ask if he really said those words to me. I don’t really know how they all have the audacity at 5:06 in the morning
