customers grabbing instead of asking😭(self.starbucksbaristas)

so, it’s obviously not a big deal but how do yall feel when people just reach over the glass for straws (and other plastic things idk) instead of just asking? Some guy the other day did it and I was like oh yeah just next time ask and we can give it to you and he was like “oh im sorry, dw i just washed my hands” 😭 (which is very considerate lol) but others will just walk up, reach, then dip. And of course it’s done to prevent excessive use of plastic products but I swear I feel like us having to hand it to them doesn’t make much difference cus they almost ALWAYS want one, even with the nitro lids!

i think its really rude, because 1. you’re struggling to take something from MY workspace instead of just simply asking. and 2. you’re reaching into a space that’s got plexiglass there for a reason, it’s like when you’re at dinner and you just reach across the table instead of asking for someone to pass the salt. if you have to struggle to grab it, just ask for it

THE STRUGGLING YES OMG. I helped out at a SUPER busy store yesterday and a customer was literally frantically searching the handoff area and then finally asked “where are your guys’ straws?’ BRUH U COULDVE ASKED🤦♀️

like i get being shy or socially awkward but wouldn’t it be less embarrassing to just, ask

I find it disrespectful when they do that. I feel like randomly showing up at their house and going through their cupboards so they could see how it feels.

Sometimes a customer at my store will order food and a hot coffee at the register and when the Barista on register is turned around grabbing the hot coffee for the customer, the customer will reach and dip down their arm just to grab a stopper or a utensil that we keep right between the 2 register monitors. Like just use ur voice

We were told keeping the straws behind the glass was for “customer connection” which is irritating because if anything you would think that customers who are mobile ordering just want to get their stuff and get out, not chit chat.
