I agree that there are situations where customers are annoying while they are waiting for their drinks (asking for modifications after ordering, making comments on the drink you're making that even isn't theirs, etc.). Outside of those situations, I don't mind customers watching because I understand it's probably due to curiosity of the process

I had so many people pressed up against the hang off counter yesterday m. Just staring at us. I understand you are waiting for your drink. It will probably be a few minutes. Go sit down

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I don't mind at all. It's like watching your bartender make your drink, or if you go to those restaurants where they cook at the table... as long as the people watching me aren't rude or interrupting my flow too bad.

i hate being on bar for this reason! the old karens glaring at u and micromanaging u on bar like, FUCK OFF SERIOUSLY MAN staring at me wont make ur drink be done faster or taste better 😁😁 no i dont lnow where ur fucking spinach feta wrap is moron take a look @ the crowded building and evaluate the situation urself

i was making a frap and i was so tired that i tried to pour the milk with the cap on for a second and this dude at the handoff yelled “I SAW THAT” I WAS SO ANNOYED

I guess it helps that I have a background in bartending but yeah; it’s a bit of a performance.. just try to focus on the drinks and remember -don’t let em’ see you sweat- 😉

at my store the drive through windows are right in front of frap bar so my favorite is when customers stare me down through their car while I’m trying to sling a million fraps and they try and grab my attention or change something to their drink when I’m putting it together

I struggled with this so much when I was a barista. You can just feel their crossed arms and impatience. It always stressed me out even more, considering I was constantly, visibly moving, yet it was never fast enough.

I like when customers ask about certain ingredients and steps and stuff cause it makes me feel cool - but I agree I HATE when they are just staring at my every move I feel like they are just waiting for me to mess up 😭😭

when people are watching you make a drink and then they start yelling and getting upset, "you're making it wrong! it's supposed to have x pumps and x milk and be iced!" and you have to tell them it's not even their drink. people especially do that after they've literally JUST ordered at the reg and walked down like it's been 30 seconds! do you not see all the other people waiting?

I remember once I was on bar and I was shaking something in the shaker and it exploded everywhere while everyone just stared at me. I was already at my limit and started crying a little bit all while the lady whose drink it was kept asking where her drink was and how long ago she ordered. I had to step off and cry in the back for a couple of minutes lol

I try not to stare at the baristas but I usually glance up once in a while just to make sure I haven’t missed them calling out my drink. I like to get out of their way quickly.

Is there something specific you would like customers to do instead? Look at the ground? Look at their phone? Look at anything except the barista?

It's so annoying. I feel rushed constantly
