Can a manager refuse a transfer? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I asked my manager to transfer a while ago & he said I needed to work more hours at my current store and that he wanted to come in to my shifts to watch me work. Well, I added more hours & I never see my manager. I want to ask again but don’t want to be denied. Side note: Me & a lot of other employees have issues with the SM as well and my old coworker said to go out of district to talk to a SM about transferring. Any tips?

maybe mention something to your DM. if you never see your manager, maybe give them a heads up and an opportunity to connect with you and the other store manager about it, and if that doesnt work, yeah i'd say contact your DM.

Thank you! I’m hopefully going to be seeing my manager today to ask again. I’m a little nervous to involve our DM because they are very close to my SM and also they are currently in the process of stepping down from DM so I’m not too sure what’s going on with that. I just don’t understand why i’m being denied a transfer
