“I don’t want your overpriced coffee” (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SortaSketchyNDed
Don’t have a good title for this but does anyone else get people who come into your store or walk by your kiosk in the grocery store telling you that they ahem, “don’t want your overpriced coffee” or some sort of comment against your store? Or is my location weird?

I’d literally be like “that makes two of us!”

That happened to me yesterday, she came in the drive thru saying she wants a “medium roast but Ice and large” I explains everything give her the price “you have to be ******* me, that’s not really the price is it?” “yes, it is.” “What about medium?” I give her the price. That’s not really the price is it?” “Yes it is. Would you like that or I can tell you the price of the small if you’d lik-“ She slams her door (I don’t think her window could roll down) and drove away. As she drives away I just say “I’m sorry about that, have a nice day!” As she’s already around the corner. I don’t make the prices, I cannot change them I wanted to tell her!

Once told someone “then go to Timmies. But the people working here are funnier.” And did double finger guns. Customer didn’t appreciate it as much as my coworker did.

Probably wasn’t the best way I could have handled it, but I was sleep deprived and been on the job for less than a month, so my decision making wasn’t the best.

Two notes just for context:

1. I’m from/living in Canada, and we have another popular coffee chain here called Tim Horton’s/Timmies.

2. I know I shouldn’t have called out a competitor, but I still sold the guy a few drinks so it wasn’t any loss of business and he was from outta town [I know cause he had Quebec license plates on the car he got into] so it was just kinda a “fuck it” moment. I regretted that for a few months but these last few months after sharing the story with a couple shift runners who laughed at it (including the manager) I’m less concerned haha

I have a customer that comes through DT and always makes a point to inform me that she is picking up an order for her boss. She always tells me she can't afford Starbucks - if she wanted to drink coffee, she'd go to a Chik FIL A - apparently they don't charge for coffee....

In my mind, I suggest to her that perhaps quitting school wasn't a good idea - in reality, I just smile and wish her a good day...... .

I have worked in a couple of secure environments and I always getting a guy that complains about a $3 coffee. I usually respond that I understand but the great thing about our coffee is that it’s available to you right here and right now.
