Qualifying Hours? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Thisisntreal115
I heard that the requirement for benefits would be decreased… rather than 20 hours weekly needed, it would be reduced … does anyone know anything about this?

it's changing to 15hrs a week

Are you sure? Because my SM just posted something saying that for this new audit period from July 22-Jan ‘23 it’s back to 520 hours which would be 20 hrs per week average. The audit that just happened in July was for 450 hours, but it seems this will be the last time that will be the case.

that's what we were told :/

That would be awesome, I just find that odd since a sign just got posted saying that it’s going back to the regular 520. I will keep my fingers crossed what you were told is true :)

The last 2 audits they did lower the total number of hours needed to qualify, but not sure if I saw anything about that being permanent. They were setting it at 450 instead of the 520(?) it's usually at.

So you don’t know what the next audit is? And what does 450 average out to over an audit period
badatlife15 2 points 11m ago
The most current audit was at 450 which would average to around 17/18 hours a week. (450 divided by 26 for the 26 weeks that are included in each audit), but my SM just posted something showing that starting at the next audit in January 2023 it will be back to 520 hours/20 hrs a week average.

It’s the same rules for school too huh , ASU I mean. Dude I hate this job so much, but I need the benefits and the school… I have another job too I’d rather be working. Wish I could figure out how to have my cake and eat if

Yeah I’m pretty sure it would be the same for SCAP benefits. I already have my degree so I can’t use those benefits, but am basically working at Starbucks for the insurance, I have a full time job, so the reduced hours to qualify have been helpful. If you can manage it I would stick it out, I have so much student loan debt I wish something like this had been around when I was going to college. The job definitely sucks and can seem not worth it, but to get a degree then be able to walk away from Starbucks and ideally into a job in your field will be worth it (imo). Good luck!!!
