Right standard (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by katia_0828
For the shaken espressos it helps me to pour the shots in the cup so I know what shots are for what when I walk away to do cold bar. A partner ask me if that was standard and if it would melt the cups. I have no problem switch it would just be a learning curve.

I’m curious as to how that partner makes iced lattes, iced americanos, iced flat whites, and iced espresso shots.

I think some people pour the shots into the shot glass and then pour them into the cup after 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is there milk, water, or ice already in the cup? If not, then they have no real reason to do that…
kittykaty14 5 points 11m ago
I don't think so? That was always way too confusing for me and didn't understand the point
zedazeni 6 points 11m ago
That’s my point—there is no point in using the glass shot glass for anything other than caramel macchiatos/drinks where the shots go on top. Otherwise, you can just use the cup and save yourself the unnecessary confusion.

It will not melt the cups.

Not sure about shaken espressos but I know it is standard to pour shots into cold cups for iced lattes, iced americanos, etc. Cup won’t melt lol

It wont melt the cups at all. Sometimes if someone orders a crazy amount of shots itll make the cups a little flimsy (we had one lady who ordered 9 shots iced w no ice on the regular and the cups almost always buckled when we put the lids on)

I had a customer order an iced 6 long shot espresso in a venti cup with light ice the other day and boy when I tried to put that lid on.. yikes. Smallest amount of pressure and it was ready to collapse on itself. Double cupped that bad boy straight away.

I also pour shots into the cups for shaken espressos to help me keep drinks straight. It's not really a problem. I think the reason the training specifies using the shot glass is to slightly bypass the few people who don't want to shake it and will try to make it like an iced espresso.

I just taught a pod from the new training. The standard is to only use the shot glass for personal cups and macchiatos. If you’re worried about the cups melting just put a splash of milk or the syrups in first.

Pretty sure the idea is you're supposed to use the shot glass for shaken espressos too. At least that's what I learned when I did them for barista champ. Although I dont think there's anything wrong with using the ice cup to catch them. As long as it gets shaken and built right.

Oh yeah, those too.

Recently the plastic in the cups have changed and will melt the cup. It was put in the weekly update a couple weeks ago.

I’ve never had a cup melt?
