yeah for sure let them know what you’re not comfortable with. I go to other stores a lot and don’t know where anything is so I let them know its best for them to put me anywhere but doing cs or dishes since I have no idea where anything goes.

It’s very possible that they’re trying to give you practice on a position they see you have potential to get better at - I would talk to them and explain your reservations and see what they have to say. There’s a lot of new partners at my store who still struggle with CS and so I make sure that when they’re assigned that position that 1) they know they don’t need to be perfect and 2) my other partners, especially whoever is on bar, knows they’re new and may need very clear/explicit/direct instructions when we need support on something. I like to be very clear with people when I know they’re still developing a particular skill that I know they might not be there yet but they’re doing great and I wouldn’t put them there if they weren’t AND if that changes I will step in.

you absolutely have the right to request to be put on other positions, but for what it’s worth CS is a challenging position (since you’re juggling/keeping track of so many different things), and the best way to get better at it is to practice!
