customer said she never paid for this(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lovepplusethings
long story short we had a customer come and order a venti pike with 5 scoops of vanilla bean powder. she said she wanted to use her stars. ok. she used 50 stars to pay for the drip coffee but had .53 left to pay because of the VB powder. she said she's never paid for the way she gets her coffee. "all across the united states, and every day this week i've never paid for it"
what??? I've been here since march 2022 and work at a licensed store to give context.

So if it’s licensed, she’ll have to pay. If it’s corporate, she doesn’t. I’ve done drip coffees with shots and whatnot before and gotten it free. It sucks, but it’s a licensed context.

This. I work corp and you can order anything in a drip and get it for 50 stars. Licensed stores charge for a lot more things because they have to pay the franchise fees

It depends on the licensed store's policy. I work at a Tarbucks and we remove any modification charges for reward drinks. In this case, we would remove the charge for the vanilla bean mod. To be clear, this is a Tarbucks standard and should be followed at every Tarbucks. I can't speak to Safeway/Meijer/Costco/etc, though.

I’ve gone to Target and they’ve never done that for me…but that’s nice to know
Texasgirl19025 points11m ago
At my target, we’re supposed to remove the charge for add-ons if they redeemed stars because it doesn’t do it automatically
starboienby8 points11m ago
i went to a starbucks in a target and they told me i couldn’t use my stars or scan for points. i had assumed we could since it’s a starbucks.
CatalyticGenesis9 points11m ago
at target we *just* got pushed an update with summer one that lets us do scan-only and the rest of the star redemption options. we used to only have the gift card scan-to-pay but now we have everything but the "credit/debit card linked to app" option.
the amount of confused and upset customers ive had over not being able to do their scan to pay qr code... it's like look ur still earning the stars bc i scanned ur qr code. you just need to pay with the other card i know you have because you're currently holding your wallet and i can see both cards and cash. please. please stop making a fuss.
djdementia1 points11m ago
Probably because if you scan and pay with the linked card you get double stars. If you scan then pay with physical card you only get regular stars.
starboienby1 points11m ago
i see our store never touched about starbucks in target, so i was under the impression we could use our discount and stars, but the person said that they don’t do partner discounts, use stars, or even scan for point.

Maybe the stars for 150 to cover a more custom drink instead of the 50 for the drip coffee. Or at least 75 stars for the drip coffee and customizations. Thats what Im guessing
FlowerCurious5810 points11m ago
Yeah I’m with this one
violaaesthetic6 points11m ago
At a corporate store she should be able to add literally any modifications, as long as the base drink is a drip coffee, and still get the whole drink covered by 50 stars. But that’s just corporate locations
NicolePikapi3 points11m ago
A little late to the thread, but I work at a licensed store (Safeway) and we don’t charge add ons in drinks if they are redeeming stars for a free one 🤷🏼♀️
Dark_kitty222 points11m ago
I work at a corporate store and the stars cover the drinks as well as the modifications. It could be different at a licensed one though.

Corporate stores be like - 50 star pike with 6 shots, 9 syrups and VSC? Okay boo, I got you.

Had a similar issuem aparently years ago, there was a VB powder out for customers to sprinkle in their coffee.
