do we get paid if the store closes due to staffing?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mileygirl08
hey partners ! I'm a new green bean, I just finished my training & now scheduled ~30hrs a week.
I was scheduled 5 days this week, but the shift lead texted saying we will be closed 2 out of those 5 days due to staffing issues.
I really need my hours. Will I still get paid for the hours I was scheduled, or is it an out-of-luck situation?
Thanks!

Unfortunately you won't. If you need hours, you can always see if another store in your district needs help those days.

my store was closed last sunday due staffing issues as well. they offered people to go to a different store but the people that couldn’t still go paid for their shift… sounds like my dm violated policy tho 👀👀

sadly no :( my store had to close early once and my sm asked the dm if I would still get paid but she said no, corporate policy says no pay for hours not worked. its shitty though.

Yes. If there is a point in time that you work and you show up for the shift but the store closes, you are entitled to a full day's pay.

Unfortunately no part of that is true in almost all states. California is wild and not part of this.
If they are told the store is closed they won’t get paid. The sm should send them to a near by store so they still get their hours.
If you show up and the store is closed and you weren’t informed and you wait you generally are entitled to 3 hours of pay not a full day. You also would need to call the SSV, the sm, and your Dm in this scenario.

Interesting. Is this resource available on the hub somewhere?

Most of it should be in the partner manual I think.
