How to ask for sick time to be used while on LOA? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I am currently on an approved LOA that ends mid August and wanted to use sick time that I have accumulated for the next two weeks while I’m out but I’m not sure if I am allowed to and how I would initiate that. I don’t have a ton of sick time or anything and I’m on the schedule now for the first time in a few months so I don’t know if that makes it not possible now that I’m scheduled to return. I’ve just been out for a while and wanted to use it now because I rarely (if ever) call out sick and miss work so this is a good opportunity. Do I just text my manager and ask to use sick time for the next few two weeks before I get back and go in for the shifts I am scheduled for? Is there a limit of hours I could use since I’m not technically missing a scheduled shift? I wasn’t technically scheduled and missed anything for these past two weeks because I’ve been on leave for so long. Basically I’m confused.

Yes! Ask your manager, you might need to stop by and write it into the punch communication log

If you’re on an approved LOA, there are guidelines on how sick/vacation time can be used, I believe it’s up to 40hours per week but it might vary based on leave type.

When I was on my loa I used both sick and vacation. I did mine through Sedgwick

You might have to ask Sedgwick if that is even allowed. Your SM might not be able to edit your timecard if you are on an LOA.
