Former Partner— Should I Come Back? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by InternationalSector3
So the Starbucks by my house is actually amazing lol much different than my old store and I was chatting with the store manager the other day and she asked me if I would be interested in coming back. My life has taken some rather interesting turns of late and I’m kinda tempted. I do have another job so I’d only be an opener a few days a week. Should I work for the siren again?

id say its not worth it lmao its kinda gone to shit lately

I’ve heard that. I haven’t worked at Sbux since the beginning of last April but some of my old friends still love it so I wasn’t sure

edit: i just realized you said last april and i was here thinking youve been gone for a couple years lol. My point still stands, but im sure youre aware of a lot of this in any case 😭

i think it depends a lot on who you have managing your store ofc, but a lot of the environment has changed in the past couple years with the pandemic and a lot of other factors, including treatment from upper management due to the recent unionizations (theyre SCARED lmao!). Despite their fear of people unionizing, corporate still doesnt want to admit their workers deserve better treatment and continue to speak down to us. The customers have also gotten markedly worse since the pandemic, we were told unofficially we werent allowed to enforce the mask mandate when when it became a legal mandate in my area, and ive been told my district wasnt the only one saying this. Just all sorts of nonsense like that.

also, the prices of everything have gone up while the quality has gone way down. Supply chain issues and (from what i can gather) issues with production have left many stores out of a lot of things, or left with said things in low quality (think sauces being the wrong color and very runny sandwiches made in inconsistent sizes while also missing ingredients, being out of ground coffee or 2% or completely out of CUPS, etc etc etc)

a lot of these issues are company wide too, its been strange

if you do decide to rejoin the company, i hope you get in with a manager whos cool and a district that doesnt care only about numbers and not the well being of their own workers ! because a lot of people, esp those in my district, are very not happy

Yeah you’re definitely right. I forgot about some of the crap I had to go through before I left lol. When I put my two weeks in, I worked my last few shifts and never looked back until now. I’d be in a completely different district now with a bunch of people I don’t know which does give me some anxiety. I think I’m leaning towards enjoying my once every few week trips and keeping it pushing. I’m not sure that it’s worth the stress that I had at my old store

I’d honestly say it’s really not worth it tbh

They just came out with new availability requirements, so if you plan to work 12hrs a week with 18 available hours I say go for it. If you wouldn’t be fully relying on this for your income, the worst that can happen is you don’t like it and you leave right?
InternationalSector3 [OP] 1 points 11m ago
That’s interesting… I’d really only be available 3 days a week and a used to only really work 5-6 hours shifts when I opened
Fluffybunnybadass 1 points 11m ago
oh yeah i forgot they just introduced that effective within the next few months? or something?
so unless that manager is okay with your 18hr eligibility, I'd probably not

also i'd prob not in general. ask the baristas there, too. the manager can say one thing, but baristas will always say another

I originally was talking to a girl and I told her I was thinking about coming back and she was excited and she asked her manager to come over and that’s when she asked me to apply but idk I’m full timeish at my pharmacy job and I don’t want to over exert myself
