Reusable cup policy — is there more than one policy? I found the Contactless Handling Procedure on the store iPad. Is there one that says we are supposed to touch the cup and then wash our hands? (self.starbucksbaristas)

That’s exactly what I said. My SM said “take their cup, even if it’s dirty. Just wash your hands afterwards.” The SM never even mentioned that you’re supposed to sanitize every surface that cup touches…like counters, bar, etc. 🙄

your sm is lying to you and violating food safety practices lmao. You are supposed to refuse any cup that isnt completely clean and empty and you are not supposed to ever touch the cup regardless if its clean or not, its to prevent the spread of food borne illness. If you dont have anything to put the cup into (such as the personal cup mug we've turned our cafe cups into) then you are supposed to refuse taking personal cups all together, but can still give the customer the 10c cup discount to satiate them

source: i constantly have to argue w my dirty ass shift about this

This kind of thing is infuriating because it’s just one of multiple food safety issues/Starbucks standards that the SM says we don’t have to uphold when the customer is insisting we do what they want. The SM also says if the customer insists that we take a drink back after they have taken a couple sips, we are to do it. Basically any Starbucks standard that causes a customer to get upset, you are to violate it in order to make the customer happy.
I wish we could contact Ecosure.

dude that sounds like a nightmare, sorry to hear it. If my sm came at me with that bs id ask her for that statement in writing w her name and the date on it 😭 those standards are in place for a reason, mainly cleanliness and employee safety, two things that are absolutely essential to keeping a business going. Your sm is fulla shit
