Its actually the standard in the handbook😊

I almost slapped someone's hand today
sydthesquid9534 points11m ago
I have accidentally slapped someone’s hand in the past… They were coming for my cinnamon shaker 👀
awordaphrase23 points11m ago
Someone reached for a lid, I smacked the hand, threw the lids he touched away and handed him a clean one. The man was too stunned to speak. It was a reflex born of having kid that won't listen when I ask don't touch.

I actually moved the little chalkboard sign with all of our names over so it was between both Mastrenas and blocked the space where we had the baristas' sugars. Right by the little sinks. I call it The Wall, and sometimes it flops over, but it has stopped EVERYONE from trying to stick their dirty little hands over the counter. 😈

I love this idea, but be careful because in our district our DM is very strict on making sure the costumers can actually see over the mastrenas because apparently that’s standard?
ghost_in_the_sun4 points11m ago
Luckily it's not so high that it blocks view of behind the counters, it's just high enough that they can't get to the sugars or stick their faces right by the water spigot.
LilacFlores2 points11m ago
Oh thats great then! Im glad you found a solution :)
Lightheaded_gamer32 points11m ago
Like this is why I missed the sugars being out in the lobby before they stopped it.
I get it during the rough parts of covid it made sense, but now that everything's been at full capacity I would have rather the customers get it from the condiment bar by the exit than them sticking their dirty fingers on the barista side.
Necessary_Low93917 points11m ago
Same. I think we should have sugars out but not milk
Lightheaded_gamer6 points11m ago
Agree, I never liked the milk being out there since day one of me working for stbux(for countless of reasons it should be it's own thread lo!l).
Necessary_Low93911 points11m ago
The milk is gone after 5 mins because people get espresso over ice. I don’t mind making it before because it’s easy and they get the milk outside to make it a latte but if I’m on lobby it’s crazy.
Lightheaded_gamer5 points11m ago
From the stores I worked at , either it's gone under 10 min or sits there to spoil because we were falling behind on orders and forgot about it.

i had a customer reach into the drive thru window
lycorisette1 points11m ago
Sadako coming thru the TV behavior! 📺

People who reach over the glass for straws bruh like USE YOUR WORDS! I swear so many times someone frantically searches that area back n forth and theyre finally like ‘where are the straws?’ 😃😃😃 theres a sign that literally says ASK YOUR BARISTA
imvni511 points11m ago
The other day I had a customer reach over and start pressing buttons on the espresso machine….
Mafiya74 points11m ago
No wayyyyyy, what do you even do in that situation???
imvni52 points11m ago
Honestly I stood there in shock….like why do you think that’s okay
_lanalana_10 points11m ago
One time i had a customer reach over the bar, grab his cup out of my line of cups, and demand i make it. I honestly saw red and told him i would make it when i was done with the three other drinks in front of his.
Legitimately the look on my face made him shrink back and look sheepish as hell.
mrbubblegxm9 points11m ago
i’m this close to just putting the straws even lower. we have them in the lids container rn but that isn’t enough since ppl have long arms. i want you to struggle and crawl.
mewwissa6 points11m ago
I will never understand why people think it’s okay to reach behind the bar at a Starbucks. You wouldn’t dare do it at the BAR bar with alcohol. Or just walk up in the kitchen at a restaurant.
Minute-General-20903 points11m ago
I 100000% stand with this
greenChainsaws2 points11m ago
we need a sign that says "keep your hands to yourself and use your words" istg
maidofpuns2 points11m ago
Whenever I catch someone in "searching frantically for a straw" mode I use my best customer service and ask, "oh, are you looking for a straw? You just have to *ask*." Alternately, use the good ole "Please don't come under the sneeze guard; that's a health code violation" when I'm extra irritated about it.
