“Can you rewrite your statement, ethics and compliance doesn’t need this info.” My SM to me… (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SkyTelle
Filling a complaint with ethics due to a SSV doing some not very ethical stuff. Sent in my statement to the SM, had a meeting, got a call from SM on my day off asking me to rewrite my statement, leaving particular things out.

I sat on that for the day. Then, called the DM and blew the whistle. Laid out everything from my statement and more.

After the call I sent the DM my original statement plus my resignation effective immediately. From there I filled with ethics on my own, with a brand new statement that included my original, plus resignation letter, and a couple pages of old and new incidents.

Starbucks needs me more than I need them. I am not a bad gay, Cody and you did ask me to write in that lunch I didn’t take. I hope you enjoy having me as a cranky customer as much as I enjoyed having you as my SSV.

Without knowing what happened and what you said, it's hard to comment. Can you elaborate?

your SM should have no say in your dealings with compliance as they will try to cover their ass so they do not look bad to corporate…

Yup. I found it odd that my SM insisted i send the statement to them so they can send it to ethics. Then that dreaded phone call where I was asked to rewrite my statement leaving out particular details. Hmmmm?

If you’re with the siren and are being discriminated or asked to do things unsafe or unethical, like writing in a lunch you didn’t take…. Send your statement directly to ethics and compliance. Don’t even bother with the SM. Especially if it is an ongoing situation where the SM does not do Jack about it for months at a time.
